I have Homer Lee Coffelt parents listed as James Andrew Coffelt and America Edwards. My ggrandmother is Martha Jane Coffelt which is sister to James Andrew Coffelt. James Andrew and Martha Jane Coffelt father is listed as Andrew Jackson Coffelt and Mahala Jane Barton Coffelt. After Andrew Jackson Coffelt passed away in 1897 from TB Mahala remarried Andrew Jackson Coffelt brother John Samuel Coffelt. I see Homer in the 1920 Taney Census with parents then in 1930 he is living with Grandmother Mahala Jane Coffelt along with his brother Albert R Coffelt.( Mahala is listed as widowed) Hope this helps a little!

I went to Aunt Lizzie's house many times as a child. I remember her well. Every time we visited her my Mother would take us to Six Flags. I also remember her daughter. There was a man who lived there too. I think he lived in the back of the house. I mostly remember him in a workshop like place. It seems like he showed us gold dust or something once. He was also the person who first showed us what mercury looked like when it spills. I can't remember his name or if he was Aunt Lizzie's son, or nephew? I loved Aunt Lizzie and going to her house!

Bessie Coffelt of W.Va.

Years ago my mother and I went through her photos and I labeled them. She identified a photo -- a young woman in a white dress -- as "Mrs. Bessie Coffelt," a friend. She is wearing glasses. I have found a death record, an obituary and a social item for Bessie Kline Coffelt of Jumping Branch, Summers County, W.Va. In the 1940s my parents lived in Jumping Branch, so this Mrs. Coffelt is probably the young woman in the picture. But I'm looking for relatives who can help me make 99 percent sure that it is.

Any help would be appreciated.

West Virginia Memories
http://wva.homestead.com
Stella_Gadd(at)yahoo.com

From http://www.wvculture.org/vrr/va_dcdetail.aspx?Id=5941000

Name: Bessie Virginia Coffelt
Sex: Female
Death Date: 06 Nov 1966
Death Place: Hinton, Summers, W.
Looking for info on Nannie Maude Grace Coffelt Standiford's parents. Have conflicting names for her father, either Thomas or Edward or James Coffelt born April 1858 in Missouri. He married Mary or Molly, she was born about March 1963. They had at least 6 children:
Bill
Lucy E. b. Oct 1886
Nannie Maude (Grace) b. 11 Jan 1888 AR, d. 15 Oct 1969, OK
James P. b. Mar 1890 TX
Lonnie(fem) b. Feb 1893 TX
Ida F. b. Sep 1896 I.T., OK

Nannie was my great-grandmother. Nannie married Carl Welcome Standiford 14 Dec 1902 in Johnson Co, TX.

I have been stuck with this Coffelt for a decade! I would love to get more info and meet a new cousin!
Susan

Oddly, my father's name is Richard Lloyd Coffelt. As I am finding, we are all somehow related here in the States and further back.

I found relatives in Austria as well when I was there in 1983. The family name was originally "Kauffeldt". and Americanized sometime in early US history. I will make contact at the provided link shortly. Thank you very much. :)

Collin,

We have a great deal of data on Coffelts. If you would like to send us your earliest known ancestor, we will try to help you make the connection you need. We can be contacted at: rands@htcomp.net.

We have the Coffelts documented to Germany, very early.

Sue C.

Cannot help you there, but I momentarily thought you might be my aunt Carolyn Celeste Coffelt...of which there are many close relatives in SoCal and WA State.
