Hi there
My GG grandfather was William (sometimes went as Denis) Coffey who was born in Sneem Co. Kerry abt 1841. He married Sarah Williams from Balingrane Co. Limerick and they lived in Limerick City where he was a coachman. He was Roman Catholic and she was Church of Ireland. They had a bunch of kids some in London some in Dublin and some in Limerick. I know nothing of the Kerry family. William was still alive in 1911 where he gave his birth place as Sneem. I do know that my grandmother talked about her grandfather having 30 acres in New Zealand but he came back to Ireland and left it. Any clues you can give me would be great... Thanks!

Hi,
l'm also looking for the Coffey family and also have come against a brick wall. The family l'm looking for is----
Denis Coffey married Catherine (Creamer ) Coffey.
Micheal Patrick Coffey born in 1838
Joanna Coffey born in 1842.
Catherine Coffey born in 1844.
All was born in St, Finsbarra's in Co, Cork. l do not know if the family ever got married or not, as l can not get any news out, so that is a dead end, so l'm hoping that some one can shed some light on this family. Here's hoping, any lead is something, they just can't vanish.

Regards
Shirley.
We are descendants of the Coffey family of Cahirciveen, Co.
My great grandmother was the daughter of William Golden and Catherine Coffey. She was the daughter of Denis Coffey.
I have been struggling for about 20 years to find my link to the Coffey line. My grandmother, Udora Coffey, was born 18 July 1872 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. She died 24 Feb 1954 in Cleburne, Johnson Co., Tx. Her fathers name, John, was on her marriage certificate. She married John Taylor Tribble 28 July 1889 in Tex. This is all the info that I have and have not been able to find anything further. I would appreciate any help that you could give me.

Nancy Agness Coffey was the daughter of hugh coffey b. 1784 and Margaret Walker Coffey. On their journey from N.C to Ms. they stopped in Al. and share cropped for about 6 years. Lafayette County Heritage, Volume 1, published by the "Skipworth Historical and Genealogical Society,Inc."Oxford Mississippi. has an interesting account of their journey.
Andrew B was the 6 child of Hugh coffey b. 1784 and Margaret walker b.10-1-1789, d 11-4-1854. She was the daughter of Andrew Walker and Sarah Cry Walker. Hugh Coffey was born in Waxhaw Settlement, Lancaster Co, S.C. There is no conclusive evidence of the parents Some family trees list Hugh Coffey and Agness Montgomery as parents. since hugh and margaret had one daughter named Nancy Agness, I tend to lean in this direction. John coffey b 1752.m sussanah crockett might possibly be his parents.

Looking for information about the parents and siblings of Levi Coffey, b. abt 1825 NY, d. 1891, MI, m. Julia White bef 1849 in MI. Children: Franklin, Ida, Henry, Frederick, Sarah, and Marshal.

Levi was a prosperous farmer in Handy Twp., Livingston Co., and he and his wife are buried in Coffey Cemetery, Handy Twp. (along with at least 25 other members of the Coffey family).

Levi and Julia's daughter, Ida, is my mother's great grandmother on her mother's side. Family lore has it that we can trace our Coffey line no further back than to an infant who was the sole survivor of a wagon train massacre, and that this infant was taken in by a family by the name of Coffey. Unfortunately, family lore cannot provide any details whatsoever.

TYA!
Richard

Was your Mary A. Coffey perhaps born in Rhode Island? I am carrying a Mary Coffey, daughter of Philip and Catherine Coffey, born circa 1869. Her parents seemed to have traveled between Worcester, MA, Woonsocket and Providence, RI. From what I can gather, Philip and Catherine Coffey had between 9 and 11 children. I believe Philip (b circa 1832 in Ireland) was a brother to my Great-Grandmother, Mary Coffey (b 1838 in Ireland), who was married in Woonsocket in 1858, and whose first 3 children were born in Woonsocket, Bernon and Smithfield.
