Looking for Mrs. Lester Coil daughter of Charles and Maggie Jones (my GrAunt & Uncle). They were first living in Deering, ND, then to Bainville, MT, then to Big Timber.
I know that GrAunt Maggie had several more children:
Mrs. Frank Kremper of Big Timber, Harry A, Francis L., Parker Jones. I also know Maggie & Charles had another daughter Chloe Jones - Moffitt or Moffett.
I am trying to locate any of these family members still there in MT. Any and all help would be greatly appreicated.

Does anyone have information about a John Coil that was hanged for killing a girl. I have no other info except the possible names of the jurors that convicted him. I am guessing this took place in the late 1800's or early 1900's.

Last Friday morning Mr. C. A. Skinner discovered that three head of cattle were missing from the pasture. Late that evening it was eveident they had been stolen, and Robert Carrothers and Robert Coil started in pursuit, arriving at Bridgeport just in time to secure the cattle and capture the thief which proved to be CHARLES W. COIL, a nephew of Mr. Skinner. He was taken to Cadiz for a hearing.

Have found George (parents were from Mo and KY) and family in the 1900 census - Cowley County, Winfield, KS.
Wife Mary was the dau. of JOseph C. POor and Virginia Cogdal originally of KY. (Joseph was a brother to my direct ancestor.)
Can't find Coil family in 1910,but by 1920(Cowley County, KS), George is married to another woman.

Am seeking info on my great-grandparents Kathryn (Dinwood) Coil and Harry Coil who lived in Alexandria, Kentucky. Kathryn died in 1962 and is buried in Alexandria Cemetery but I have been unable to find any info on Harry Coil. They owned a tavern (Kiskers) prior to 1962 which from the info I have was located in Melborne, Kentucky or in Ross, Kentucky. I would appreciate any info on Harry Coil and on the tavern. Any help you may be able to give me will be greatly appreciated.

The Rev. Abraham Lewis Coil, 67 of 510 S. Wayne St., died of a heart attack at his home here tonight on the eve of he and his wife's 50th wedding anniversary.

Several guests already had arrived at the house for tomorrow's celebration when Mr. Coil was stricken at 6:30 pm.

Survivors include his wife, two sons, Merle of Wapakoneta and william of Phoenix, Ariz. and a daughter, Mrs. Ray McKinney of St. Marys.

Mr. Coil had been pastor of the Ross Church of the Brethren, near Mendon, for several years prior to his retirement two years ago.

Flora Lucinda Coil dies April 22, 1968

Funeral services will be held this Thursday at 1:00 pm in the Leis Memorial Chapel for Mrs. flora Lucinda Coil, 79 of 219 North Canal, Spencerville.

Mrs. Coil died at 3:30 pm Monday in Lima Memorial Hospital. She was born Oct. 5, 1888, the daughter of William W. and Caroline S. (Keller) Rose. On May 1, 1913 she was married to George Frank Coil, son of William M. and Josephine (Sherer) Coil, who died Sept. 5, 1940.

Survivors include two sons, Wilbur K. of 219 North Canal, Spencerville, and Arthur L. of Beaverdam; three grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Roy Johnson will officiate at last rites, and interment will be in the Spencerville Cemetery with arrangements by the Leis Memorial Chapel.

George Frank Coil Obit

FRANK COIL USES SHOTGUN TO END ALL AT HIS FARM HOME WEDNESDAY

George Frank Coil, aged 54 years, took his own life at his farm home, three miles north of
Spencerville, on the Spencerville Delphos highway, west side of canal, early Wednesday morning,
September 4, 1940.
Following an investigation by Dr. Burt Hibbard, Allen County coroner, the following statement
was made:

Coil left his bed about 4:40 am and went downstaris. Shortly after Coil's wife heard the report
of a gun and when she investigated she found his body in the pantry with an old style 12-gauge
single barrel shotgun beside it. The top of Coil's head was almost blown away.
No explanation for the act can be given. He was a farmer and oil worker and had resumed
work in the oil fields.
Surviving are the wife, forence; 2 sons, Arthur Coil, Lima, and Wilbur Coil, at home; 2 brothers,
Abraham Coil, St. Marys, and Grover Coil, state of Oklahoma; 2 sisters, Mrs. Thomas Costello,
state of Oklahoma, and Mrs. Sarah Shellabarger, Bookville Ohio.
Funeral services were held Saturday forenone at 10 o'clock, at the First Federated church,
Spencerville, in charge of Rev. P.L. Curtiss and C.B. Miller & Son, and interment was made in the
Spencerville cemetery.

I have possibly found my great-grandmother, Nancy Coil. She passed away in Callaway Co. Missouri in 1850 or 1860 and she was born in Virginia. She married a Willam Smith who was born somewhere in Indiana in 1830. Both of his parents were born in Kentucky.
I have no idea when Nancy was born or when she died.
Her husband, William Smith ended up moving the family, including his daughter Nancy A. Smith to Lamar County, TX in the Powderly Community of Lamar County, TX. She married a James C. Turner there in 1889.

JOSEPHINE COIL

Josephine Sherer Coil, daughter of Eliza E. Gray and Abram Sherer, was born in Allen county near Spencerville, Ohio, on May 22, 1866, and departed this life at her late home near Monticello, Ohio, November 9th, 1934, age 68 years, 5 months and 17 days.
On February 22, 1886, she was united in marriage to W.M. Coil who departed this life
November 3, 1926.
She leaves to morn her departure 2 daughters and 3 sons; Mrs. Eliza Shellabarger, Brookville, Ohio; Mrs. Bertha Costello, Oklahoma; G.F. Coil, Spencerville, Ohio;
A.L. Coil, St. Marys, Ohio; Grover Coil, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; fifteen grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two brothers, William Sherer and
Anthony Sherer, Spencerville; two sisters, Mrs. Flora Berger, Mendon, and
Miss Susan Sherer, Toledo; half-brother, Rev. James Sherer, Monticello; two half-sisters, Mrs George Hanley, Spencerville, and Mrs. James Rockhold, Gregory, Michigan.
Her entire life was spent in this community and near her present home.
About 33 years ago she united with the Ross church of the Brethren of which she was a member at the time of her death. She will be missed in the community for when she was able she was continually going somewhere to help others in their work. Just as she was leaving her home on Friday morning to help in a days sewing she suffered a stroke of apoplexy about 9:30; then at 5 p.m. the death angel came and called her home, never regaining consciousness, but what the Lord does He doeth well.

Mother's suffering ended with the day.
Yet lived she at its close;
And breathed the long, long night away
In stature like repose.
But when the sun in all its state
Illumited the Eastern skies;
Mother passed through glory's morning gate,
And walked in paradise.

Last sad rites were held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Salem church, services in charge of Rev. A P. Musselman and C.B. Miller & Son, and interment was made in the Salem cemetery.

I am not related to this family. I was in this cemetary researching my family and I always take pictures of all the headstones dated before 1900.

MILLER, GLENNA MAE "GeeGee" Lansing Our loving
mother grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend went
peacefully to be with our Lord in the early morning of
December 10, 2001. Glenna retired in the late 1980's as
a medical secretary after 42 years of service. Glenna
faithfully served her Lord and her church for over fifty
years. She taught Sunday School and was a lifetime
Deaconess at South Baptist Church. Glenna was
preceded in death by her husband, Hal "Jack" Miller;
daughter, Patsy Ann Miller; and brother, Calvin Coil.
Glenna is survived by her daughter, Cathy (Terry) Corts;
sons, Tim and Tom Miller; 4 grandchildren, Joanne (Sam)
Shaw, Andrew (Torey) Griffith, Emily (Paul) Castle, and
Corey Hake; 4 great-grandchildren, Samuel and Maxwell
Shaw, and Dalton and Jacob Castle; lifelong best friends,
Wally and Esto Burger; brother, Bobby (Lydia) Coil;
sister, Betty (Pete) Koen; many relatives and
acquaintances. By the grace of God, Glenna touched
many people's lives and will be truly missed. Funeral
services will be held Thursday, December 13, 10 a.m.
at the Gorsline-Runciman Co. Lansing Chapel, 900
E. Michigan Avenue, Lansing with the Rev. Don
Denyes, Sr. Pastor and the Rev. David D. Brooks,
Associate Pastor of South Baptist Church, officiating. The

Evelyn C. Forbes, 88

Evelyn C. Forbes, formerly of Boonville, Mo. died on Aug. 6, 2001 in Columbia,
Mo. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 10 at East Lawn
Memorial Park in Mexico under the direction of Pickering Funeral Home with the
Rev. Jeff Martin officiating. Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral
home.

Mrs. Forbes was born April 14, 1913 in Mexico, the daughter of Jesse L and
Myrtle Hoffman Coil. She attended public schools in Mexico and graduated from
the University of Missouri with a degree in elementary education She taught for
20 years in the Audrain County and Mexico school systems. In 1933 she married
John Stull Tompson, who died in 1970. They had two sons. She was an active
member of both the Mexico and Boonville chapters of the Daughters of the
American Revolution. She was also formerly a member of the Orpheus Music
Club in Mexico. She was a long-time member of the First Presbyterian Church in
both Mexico and Boonville, and had been active in womens' groups in both
churches.

She is survived by one son, John C. Tompson of San Antonio, Texas, six
grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and her brother Jesse L. Coil, Jr.

She was preceded in death by one son, James D. Tompson and her sister
Virginia C. Heimer.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the First Presbyterian Church in
Mexico or Boonville.

Virginia R. Coyle, 79, of Renton died July 2,
2001, in Renton. William S. Coyle, 84, of Renton
died July 7, 2001, in Renton.

The couple had lived in Renton for 50 years.

Mrs. Coyle was born Nov. 11, 1921, in Everett.
A homemaker, she enjoyed sewing and arts and
crafts.

Mr. Coyle was born April 14, 1917, in South
Colby. He retired in 1982, after 31 years of
service as a machinist, supervisor and planner
at The Boeing Co. He was a member of the
Masons.

Both were members of the Evergreen As Model
A Ford Club. Mr. Coyle enjoyed Model A
restoration projects.

The couple is survived by their sons, Robert W.
Coyle of Renton and Jared L. Coyle of Kent; six
grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Coyle is also survived by her brother,
Gordon Parrish of Menlo Park, Calif.

Mr. Coyle is survived by his sister, Kay Smith
of the Tri-Cities.

No services will be held.

Memorials may be made to Model A Ford Club
of America, Evergreen Chapter, P.O. Box 15133,
Seattle WA 98115-0133; or to the Alki Masonic
Temple, 4736 40th Ave. S.W., Seattle.

I am seeking information on my gg-grandmother, Mary Melinda "Linda" Davis Butterbaugh Trimmer. She was born abt 1855 in Ohio and married William Butterbaugh 29 Jun 1871 in Pickaway Co., OH. She gave birth to two sons, George Frank and Harry Butterbaugh. She subsequently divorced William Butterbaugh and moved to Noble Co., OH where she married Stevenson Trimmer in 1885. Stevenson died in Dec 1900. I believe that she married Thomas B. Coil or Coyle about 1901. They are found in the 1910 federal census of Brooksfield Twp., Noble Co., OH. She may have remarried for a fourth time sometime after 1910. I know that she was still living in March, 1920, on her farm in Brooksfield Twp. (I believe this to be the farm of Stevenson Trimmer). If anyone has any information on Thomas B. Coil, such as his death date, it would be greatly appreciated.

ELMER BEATTY appears to be my grandfather's step grandfather who worked on the Morris
Canal and rasied CHARLES EDWARD LANE. I have some info on a cemetary
location in Easton PA where Elmer, Carrie Mae and George are buried.... I
am especially looking for roots on MARIE PENFIELD-LANE-BARTELL who married
John Lane who died of pneumonia not long after my grandfather, Charles
Edward Lane and sister Anna Lane-Staats, were born. Marie's (who went by
MAE) mom may have been someone on Elmer's wife Anna's side. Does Charles Gentzl
ring a bell? His name was also on a baptism certificate with Mary Lane.

I know there has to be a connection, probably from the Lane side???????

Sorry about that, but I hit the wrong key.
Anyway the Coils settled in Kentucky after coming over from Ireland, somewhere in the Dublin area. From Kentucky they broke off to Missouri and Ohio, and the sect that moved to Ohio changed the spelling to Coyle.
Hope that sheds a little light on your heritage, you are Irish.
