Hi All,

Well, most names typically have one origin, so I am sure we are all related in some way! I am also trying to find information on our family history, on the Cola Side. My great grandfather's name was Alvin Cola, born on Sept. 28, 1912, in Louisiana. I do not know where, but I know that he lived in New Orleans with my Great Grandmother, Symantha Gabriel, and my Grandmother (also a Cola) until around 1945, at which time they left the state. I have since returned to New Orleans, to give back to the city and assist in redevelopment and reconstruction of the city. I would love to know more about the family, and plan on doing some research here in the state, once I have some free time. Hi John, you are correct. Ray and Carmel are my grandparents. You are my dad's cousin. I will contact you at the email address. I might have some resources for translating the documents if you can scan them. One thing to remember is they could be in a local dialect rather than formal Italian.

Hi...john cola in Willmar MN...umberto's son...we have a pile of papers, letters and government papers, alessandro wrote and recieved from relatives in italy...they are in italian and the grammar and penmanship is terrible...trying to get them interpretted unsuccessfully. you must be related to ray and carmel. Cola from Canistro, Italy

I am looking for information on my great-grandfather who came from Canistro, Italy in 1913. He was born in 1888 and his immigration papers show he claims Canistro as his home town. His name was Alessandro Cola but most records show him as Alexander Cola. He settled in Minneapolis, Minnessota area.

His first wife was Angela Antonini, also from Canistro born around 1903.

Angela Antonini traveled to the USA in 1921 with another man named Vita Zilla. Vito listed Alessandro Cola as his brother-in-law on his immigration papers.

Does anyone have any information?

I am a Cola whose family is from Convent, Louisiana and I have been researching the Cola family. You mentioned Alex, which was also my great-grandfather's name. Not sure of the exact connection, but there probably is one.

Correction to Your post. My Mom Alma Cola Hamilton is the Oldest of the Cola children born to Thomas and Orealia. She is still living. Born in 01/18/1918

I am trying to find links to information on the COLAS Family who were from Edgard, Louisiana. My fraternal grand father was Joseph Ernest Colas, born in 1897. I just learned that one of his brothers, Angelo Colas, had a son name Joesph Bienvenu Colas.
I don't know much about the history of my family. If you are a link and would like to share some information, I would really appreciate it.

Does anyone know anything about this? A baby, named Giacomina Savio, who died at 10 mos. old on 7/12/09
Daughter of Giacomo and Mary Cola who were my Great, Great Aunt & Uncle . She
died of infant cholera. She is Buried with
Maria DeSalvo who died at 1 yr, 8 mos. 5/6/10 Parents ? Cause of death?
. We are trying to solve the mystery of who this DeSalvo baby is and why they are buried together.

My great uncle from Maine, Eugene Clifford Marsh worked for the railroad. He was divorced and later married a lady with the last name of Cola.( In the late 1920's-30's ?) Don't know if they had any children. Does anyone know of this mysterious Cola lady ? We don't even have a first name for her.

Sims who married my grandfather Thomas Cols, Sr. all of my family are from New Orleans and surrounding areas. I don't know very much about them and that is why I am searching before the family dies out and there is no one to ask. I will add your Grandmother's name to the list I have and see what I come up with please stay in contact wouldn't it be great if we can help each other, and even greater if we are related and looking for the same family members. Hi. My great-grandmother just passed away last week. Her name was Noelie Cola she lived in New Orleans ,Louisiana for as long as I can remember. She was born in 1911. Her father's name was Alex Cola. That is about all I know.. She never talked about family origin so it is like a mystery. If you can please share with me some things that you might know about the Cola family. I have not been able to get beyond my great, great grandfather, Jean Baptiste COLAS whose first wife was Virginia (Jenny) MARTINEAU. they lived in St. Landry Parish. I don't know where either one of them came from.

I have COLAS cousins in the New Orleans area. Some of them spell their names in different ways, e.g., COLAR/COLLA/COLLAS/COLLARD, etc.)

I am still tracking Census, Church, and marriage records trying to locate the Louisiana entry of the first COLA to come to Louisiana.

Perhaps we can share information as we obtain it.
