Rosella Tucker 18 Mar 1835, 2nd married Nancy G. Downey
1st wife died. 1st wife Children: James W., Lewis M., and
Laurina 2nd Wife Children: George Henry,John W.,Charlotte H., Amanda Elizabeth, Sarah Angelina All Colburns. This Reason Belonged probably to William Colburn's Line Not sure
But had nothing to do with Reason A. that I have record of.
Believe William and John were Brothers from S.C but no Proof at all.

My wife is ggg grandaughter of Reason Albert Colburn and I want to believe that what you stated is correct. But if Polly died and he remarried Elizabeth, who then was Reason and Polly in the Bibb County Census in 1870? Also who was Resin and Mary in the 1880 census Franklin County. Franklin County is also where Reason and Polly's son David was located. He is my wife's gg grandfather. I just want to be sure of the facts before I say for sure that Rev Reason Albert Colburn buried at Fern Springs cemetery in Walker County is David's father who is buried in Franklin County Al. Thanks for any info on these other Reason Colburns.

Reason A. Colburn was married (2) Polly Ann Carter with one child James Anderson Colburn B.25 Dec 1857 Perry co, al buried at Fern spgs, Walker co., AL. Then He married Elizabeth Catherine Wyers. 08 Feb 1859 BD 6 Sep 1836. Died
22 Oct 1918. Buried at Fern Spgs Walker Co. Alabama. This is the same Man. 1st wife died.

I would like to know if the Reason Colburn that married Polly Ann Carter 1n 1856 and the Reason Colburn that married Elizabeth Cathrine Wayers in 1859 was the same person or not. Most people have listed that they were. if so what about the 1860 census that shows Reason and Polly and the 1870 census that shows Reason and Polly in Bibb County, AL and the 1880 census that shows Reason and Mary in Franklin County, AL. I want to know for sure which Reason was the father of David Colburn born 1856 and died in 1919 in Franklin County, AL. There is some confusion concerning these families. But I sure do not want to list Rev. Reason Albert Colburn born in Coosa County, AL and died in Walker Co and buried at Fern Springs, Eldridge, AL, unless He was really the right David's Father. Thanks for any help.

Looking for information on Charles Colburn

My grandfather was Charles Colburn, born 07/06/1928. His parents were Charles Colburn (born 1872) and Martha Gertrude Owens(born 1900). From what I have gathered from family lore, Charles Sr died leaving Martha to marry a man by the name of Charles Logan. Charles Jr married Mearl Lee Chapman (born 3/1928) and had 2 daughters, Doris Jean & Shirley Marlene.

I'd love to be able to flesh out this side of my family tree. I would appreciate any help I could get.

I recently found an old envelope that Mrs. Creighton COLBURN of West Dedham, Massachusetts received from Liverpool, England in 1877. You can see the envelope on www.philgen.org (search on COLBURN, click on View, and scroll to the bottom of the page). I want to determine what Mrs. COLBURN's connection to Liverpool might be and if this envelope is helpful to someone in their genealogical research. I do not know if the letter that was in the envelope still exists.

Charles Nelson Colburn Gravesite

Does anyone know where Charles Nelson Colburn was buried? He left Hazardville, CT in 1905 and went to work in Schaghticoke, NY at the Dupont Powder Mill, where he died 29 Mar 1905 from an explosion. He could be buried in Hazardville or Valley Falls, NY, where he was living at the time. Also, I would like to have the newspaper story about the explosion. Can anyone help?

My Colburn children descend from Generation #7, i.e. ending w/ Children of James S. Colburn and Libbie Gordon are Harry G. b. March 24, 1886 and Jesse Kent b. July 10, 1889...Jesse Kent being grfather of my children...Cynthia and Stacey (my daughters both deceased in adulthood) and my sons Todd T. Colburn and James S. Colburn III..I only know that their grfather Jesse Kent m. Beatrice Ballou, they had (5) children, i.e...sons William, Robert and James (also deceased) daughters Jane (deceased) and Shirley....only living child of Jesse Kent Colburn and Beatrice Ballou....and yes I do have the Descendants of Edward Colburn info.....

My grandmother Sarah Lawson Colburn, born Edinburgh Scotland 1918, told me that her great grandmother was native American and came over to Scotland in the mid to late 1800's Does anyone know anything that might help me? I am still waiting to hear from my father to confirm his grandmother and grandfathers surnames but my family had a tradition of giving new generation the middle name of the previous generation surname.

My husband is descended from Edward Colburn via Oliver Colburn (William, Oliver, Jeremiah, Ezra, Ezra, Edward). I'd love to share info. I have been spending time recently trying to reconcile some of the marriages in the larger family with Maine and Massachusetts records. Some of the online trees have a few inconsistencies and I have been trying to figure some of those out, with some good but not global success.

I assume that you also have access to a copy of "Genealogy of the Descendants of Edward Colburn/Coburn : came from England, 1635; purchased land in "Dracutt on Merrimack," 1668." It was published in 1913 and is viewable on Ancestry.

I descend from Captain William Polk and Sabra Bradford, through their son William, who married Hannah Hobson. William Polk and Hannah Hobson and her parents and siblings migrated to Clinton Co., OH before 1810, when they all bought land there. I have the book 'Wills and Administrations Accomack County, Virginia 1663-1800'. On page 180 is listed the Administration of the estate of William Coleburn, whose will was signed on Jan. 13, 1751 and probated in court on June 30, 1752. In his Will he lists Spencer Coleburn as his son as well as other children, William, John, Ann and Susannah. Spencer was named heir at law of the testator and Temperance Coleburn was named widow of the testator.
This book is full of Coleburns and well as many known connecting families.

I descend from Capt William Polk and Sabra Bradford, whose daughter, Margaret 'Peggy' Polk married Revel Coleburn.
Incidentally, the surname spellings listed for all the Coleburns in this book use both the spelling of 'Coleburn', Coleburne and Coulburn.

I would like to clear up a mistake made in the OneFamilyTree postings that continue to list Harriet Ransom's husband as "John Collum" his name should be "John Colburn" The author of the Ransom Family printed in the early 1900's made an error,this error was found and corrected several years ago,but people continue to carry this false name on in their family tree postings. Please,everyone,The name is "John Colburn,not Collum. John Colburn is the son of Eliphalet and Lois(Tracy)Colburn. He is also my gggggrandfather,through my Calkins side. Edward is an ancestor thru Thomas, Thomas, Oliver, Oliver, Oliver, Henry A, to my g-grandmother Annie R Colburn. My primary source of data for the early years has been the geneology done by Silas R. Colburn, 1913. Was wondering if you can share your citations for Edwards' marriage and death and Hannah's birth and death.

Thomas (2) also married a Hannah Rolfe, b. 1648, a cousin I suspect.

I just read your query. The info I have on Richard Colburn, son of Moses Colburn, was that Richard was born 1755 at Sheffield, Westmorland County, New Brunswick.

I am a descendant of Richard Colburn & Dorcas Fillmore thru their son George.

I am searching for the parents of Abigail W. Colburn who was born in Hollis, New Hampshire, on 4 JAN 1807. She married John Tullis about 1838 i Grant County, Wisconsin, and died 17 FEB 1887 in Plymuth County, Iowa. She also lived in Illinois for many years.
