I am working on a line of the MONNETTE family that involves a Dr. George L. Cole of Los Angeles area during the 19-teens. Apparently, Mervin J. MONNETTE married an Elizabeth SPENCER, who was having an extramarital affair with Dr. COLE. Shortly after marrying MONNETTE, Elizabeth bolted for a Santa Barbara property that was used as her meeting place with Dr. COLE. In what the newspapers of the era called a "divorce triangle" MONNETTE sued Elizabeth for divorce, as did Dr. COLE's wife. MONNETTE remarried in October 1915 (to Ethel CLARKE) and Dr. George L. COLE married Elizabeth SPENCER MONNETTE.
So, if you have followed thus far, what I would like to know is anyone has any idea if the Cole-Monnette marriage lasted, and if so, when did Elizabeth Specer Monnette Cole die.
Thanks!
