Got your message. Not too many of your names ring any bells, but...there is a Job Cole who lived in Mentz, Cayuga county NY. He had a son named David who fought in the Civil War. He was a POW and was on the Sultana when it exploded. He did not survive. My Coles went thru Ohio on their way to Michigan where they lost a daughter who drowned in the Maumee river. They crossed during the spring when the river was high and had rapid currents.
My Coles ended up in Branch County Michigan.
You mentioned a Kansas connection though. I have a relative branch down there too.
My ancestors brother, Watson Cole moved there in the Lyon County area after the war.
You said you were new to this. just one thing that I have found about New York. Their county borders moved quite a bit. Some of the historians up that way are very helpful!
