Collard-Caillard-Cowlard-Collar

I was entering my X6 great grandfather, William Collard, 1672-1707 Wales, into my family tree and observed that in 1776, with the birth of Sarah, the last name changed to Cowlard AND she was born in Surrey, England. The next four children, James, Samuel, Joseph and Richard were surnamed Cowlard and born in Surrey or Kent England. The last child b. 1871 was Susan Larking Collar, she was born in Kent, England. They cannot be the children of Isaac and Marthe Collard, so I am wondering if there was another child born of their union. If anyone has any information about this, I would very much appreciate hearing from you. Judy Rose Kopala

He descends from Lily Mabel who married George Prindle in Cardiff in 1901 they too had a lot of children 9 so far but it looks like there could have been more. there is a big gap between one child Clifford Munro b 1914 d 1915 and Muriel b 1921. Let me know if you want anymore info or if you have anything to share would love to hear from you.

bye
Hayley

Eleonore Collard

Looking for information on my ancestor Eleonore Collard, originally of Canada, born about 1860/1861. I hope to confirm her parents names, the date and details of her first marriage and the first husband's parent names. A death date and location would also be helpful. I believe her to be the daughter of Benjamin Collard and Emerence(?) Boucher. First husband was Henry LaPointe (b. 03 Nov 1852 in Canada, d. 26 Mar 1890 in Oconto Co). Second husband Jean Baptiste Courtois/Cootware (origin unk.), date of 2nd marriage 31 May 1892 in Oconto Co, Wisconsin.

I have listed children from first marriage:
Joseph Walter
Lenore
William
Redna (my relative)
Henry
Walter

I was able to find the death certificate for Henry La Point, but not the marriage record. For Eleonore I was able to find the marriage record for her second marriage to Jean Baptiste Courtois/Cootware, but not her birth or death records.

I have looked up Henry, Eleonore, Benjamin and Emerence on BMS2000 but did not find any records matching my existing data.

Other aliases for Eleonore Collard include: Elinore Calore, Eleonore Polland.
I descend from an Emanuel Collard who had a daughter, Myrtle Belle Collard who was born in Missouri around 1888. I was wondering if you knew anything about the Emanuel in this family line and whether or not he ended up in the US or even in Missouri? He has always been a dead end in my family line.

Thanks!
Erin Griffith

Web-posted Friday, August 29, 2008
Police search for family of slain man

Post a comment here

Larry Collard

ARTICLE TOOLS: Email Article | Print-Friendly Format
SHARE THIS STORY: Amarillo police are searching for the family of a man killed in an accident Tuesday afternoon on Interstate 40 near Airport Boulevard.
Larry Collard, 63, of Amarillo, was hit by a pickup while trying to cross the interstate. The accident closed a portion of I-40 for several hours.

The decision to publicly identify a victim before contacting family members is extremely rare, but officials haven't had any luck finding Collard's family, Sgt. Brent Barbee said.

"It's not often, but I don't know every step they took to find the next of kin," he said.

Barbee said officials identified Collard using fingerprints.

"(He's) been arrested for crimes here locally that would indicate that he is a homeless person," Barbee said.

Police records indicate Collard's most recent arrest came May 30 for panhandling at the 8500 block of I-40 - just blocks away from where Tuesday's accident occurred.

"There is a possibility he had a place to stay out there in that area," Barbee said.

A computer inquiry linked Collard back to a small Arkansas town, Barbee noted.

Collard, also known as Darryl Wade Shaddon, had "noticeably" blue eyes, gray hair, was 5 foot 11 inches and weighed 180 pounds, police said.

Anyone with information may contact APD's Traffic Investigation Division at 806-378-4250.

- Staff writer Janelle Stecklein
Wrong Henry Collard. His middle name was Traffilus (spell?) and not B. He was my maternal Grandfather, was born in Oconto County, WI and was completely French Canadian. Mathilda wasn't his Sister.

It's amazing how one middle initial can change a family search. I have a wealth of information about the Collard family - but accuracy is key when doing this research.

See my website at: www.tonystencel.com or armyartist@comcast.net

Henry T. Collard was my maternal Grandfather, and Greg is my cousin. You have some wrong information - Henry was French Canadian, born in Oconto Co. WI in 1900. His middle name was Trafillus (spell?) Rosemary's maiden name was Sell, and was born in Wausau, WI. Her real Mother died when she was 12, and her maiden name was Dietel (German/ German/Presbyterian). Rosemary's stepmother was their housecleaner and was 20 years younger than her Father. She hated his first children, and basically disowned them.

Henry was born in Wisconsin, in or about Lena, WI. His family is from Quebec Canada. His Mother lived with his family in Reeseville, WI as well as various cities in WI. She spoke only French, and my Grandmother Rosemary, became her second daughter, and took care of her - even becoming Catholic. Henry's Father died at an early age, and very little is known about him. I could go on, but have Greg call me at: (847) 383-5505. His Dad, Jim Collard was my favorite Uncle and I loved him very much.

In my research of Collard family I have found a branch that came from the NE and did not go into Troy Mo. I found that names are similar and all in all the two lines are getting confused. It makes it very hard to sort out but I do not think the Whitfield line connects to the one in Mo., Ky and Tx., and Or. They are probably related but date scrunity do not hold up.

The 1819 Census for Loughborough has the Collard family on it..they are right next to the Ruttan family. Ifound a marriage of John Wesley Ruttan s/o Michael which lists his mother as Betsy Chollard, but I think it is Elizabeth Collard. Michael has two sons, Abraham and Christopher by his first wife unknown to us..then he is widowed and has a second family by his second wife after 1820..I found two marriages of sons which say their parents are Michael & Elizabeth Ruttan..one son is named Cramer..the maiden name of Elizabeth Collard's mother..and so I believe the Collards are our missing family.. I have made a list of them if you would like to contact me..?

The name Collard has been dropped from my family even though my father & Aunts & Uncles have Collard Graves on their birth Certificates.

I too was expecting to find a marriage between a Collard & a Graves but have traced my great great great grandfather was Thomas Collard Graves born 1766.

Sorry I can't help further but if you get anywhere on this please let me know.

Steve
