Hi Tony,

My Collera family history also traces back to Asturias, Spain.
What I have found so far is that my great grandfather Primitivo COLLERA PEREZ married Guiralda CABRERA DIAZand had nine children. At least one of the children was born in Manacas de Jobosi, province Sancti Spiritus.
I am just starting to research so I would welcome any other info regarding Collera in Cuba. Thanks! alyson

Re: great grandfather

Hi Michelle,
My grandfather, Manuel Collera, was born in Cuba around 1888. He came to the United States in the early 1900's. I understand that his father, Bonafacio Collera, may have gone to Cuba from Austrias, Spain, though I am uncertain. I do not know if Bonafacio had siblings or not. I am relatively sure that Manuel had two sisters and no brothers. The Collera name is very uncommon, so they (and we) may somehow be related. In any case, you may be interested to know (if you already don't) that there is a small town in Austrias by the name of Collera. You may or may not know that "Collera" is actually an Italian word meaning "to be furious." If you have any additional information that may be of help to me in researching the name or family, I would appreciate hearing it.
Thanks,
