Quebec/Nebraska Collettes

Hi, my Great-Grandmother (Antoinette) was one of 7 (or possibly 9) children born in Superior, NE. Her maiden name was Collette. I believe both of her parents (Frank and Eliza (Cayer/Callier)) were born in Quebec, but I've also heard there are relatives in IL. Also, an older sister of hers moved to Los Angeles where my g-grandmother (and her mother and some siblings) moved. The children I know of are: Ciona, Alza, Docia, Yvonne, LaVern, Antoinette, and Maurice. The first 4 are from Christopher Collette, the last 3 from Frank. I also have a picture of Frank and Joe Collette.
Any other info would be appreciated!

I'm looking for a Collette family from
Canada that came to the Upper Penninsula in
Michigan. Rumor has it that this Collette
had at least one son and either died or left.
His wife married a Smith and they changed the
name from Collette to Smith. The sons name is
maybe Peter but he named his son Raymond
William which may in part be his father's
name. Any info would be great.

Hi Frank,

This is your cousin, Judy. My father was John Collette, your father's brother, son of George Albert Collette and Ruth Evelyn Connelly.

I do have some information on the Cunninghams, Murphys, Rooneys and such. Grandma gave me a letter dated 1949 by some of her relatives detailing some of the genealogy. I have not verified the accuracy, but I can pass it on to you. Ruth's father was John Henry Connelly and her mother was Mary Elizabeth Cunningham. I have a certificate of Death (5/7/1932)Susquehanna, PA for John Henry Connelly that lists his parents as Barney Connelly and Bridget Murphy.

I also have a copy of the marriage certificate of Frank Collette and Viola M. Bliss. They are the parents of George Albert Collette, our grandfather. I also have George Albert Collette's birth certificate. It was created when he was an adult.

I also have a wedding announcement for Ruth Evelyn Connelly to George A. Collette and a certificate of marriage 25 Nov 1916.

Viola Bliss is the daughter of Alanson Bliss and Henrietta Egan or Agen or Agar.

Contact me on Facebook. Judith Collette in Los Angeles, CA Network. I'll happily send you (or any other interested party) what I have.

Our line of Colletts were in San Francisco for over 100 years but note we spell our last name without the "e" at the end. My grandfather Charles William and his wife Henrietta along with several other siblings were certainly there at the time your photo was taken but I am guessing we are a different line.

In the photo is a young woman Hazel Collette, her mother Bessie Collette, and her father who is not named. My family lived in San Francisco, so I imagine this was taken there. If this is your family let me know, and I can forward a scan of the photo to you.

I am looking for my maternal great-grandmother's family. Her name was Philomene Collette who was born in QC in 1856 and moved to Lewiston, Maine and married Gustave LeGendre in 1874. Her father was Amable Collette from Quebec. I believe my tree begins with Alain and goes to Denys (several of them) and beyond. Do you know of these Collettes? Of course, they spelled the last name all kinds of differnt ways, so it could be Collet, too. Thanks.
Martha

Am looking for Mark and Susan as they are my half-siblings. My father was Charles, divorced from my mom in, i believe, 1950. He was in the navy, had a sister named Marie who, at one time, lived in Lodi. He lived in Amesbury, Ma, the last I heard. I have spoken to him only once in my life, but am interested in locating my Half Brother and Sister, as they are the only siblings I have and I am curious.

Hi Stacy, you said you had just found ancestery.com. Have you done your genealogy before? Reason I ask - I can't find any connection to my collettes (yet!), but if you have ancestery.com subscription, there appears to be a whole family tree chart done on your family - starting with Pierre Wilfred -- if you don't have a subscription, email me off-line and I'll send to you what I found.

Peggy
wussweiler@cox.net

Enter the "Lanier Family Message Board" and you will find the history of a very interesting family and Hannah Collett Lanier and her parents in England and they probably were Huguenots, because the Laniers were Huguenots who were court musicians and artists in England under Elizabeth. If we connect to the same Byrd Thomas Lanier from Hannah Collett, wife of Clement Lanier, and mother of John Lanier, the Virginia immigrant you will find even more info..the Colletts from New Iberia, Louisiana are connected to us..perhaps we are cousins...good hunting...
