I am researching the Collier Surname most of them were from Stephens County Ga. I am currenly looking over the name Moses Collyer I know that he was in the Nintey Six District in South Carolina and was a Patroit in the SC army in the 1770's. His wife was Dorcas Sutherland The following where his children

I have a 1850 Census where both William and James filled out a census in Stephens County and there was a question of fathers place of birth bother were filled out PA.

Mose's Mother was Esther Bloomfield she must have been a quaker as she could read and write and I hava a letter of her's that is well wirtten and show she was well edcuated, She was born 23 March 1719 and died 22 March 1786. His father was Thomas Collyer I do not have a birth date on him but its estimated to be around 1717-1719. He died in 1747. Esther then married a Jonthan Parker.

Also events of recent have turned up a Collier family bible in it is the children of Thomas and Esther, Children of Moses and Dorcas

also in it is the Father of Thomas (one that married Esther) being Thomas Collyer as well. Has no metion of his wife

also alone is the name Merrell. Other assocated last names with my Collyer family is Fincher. In Franklin County there was an Aaron Fincher.
