Robert and Edward Collingwood

I am trying to find out about both these gentlemen. Edward married my 4xgreat grandmother Charlotte Bright in 1829 in Oundle. Charlotte was born in 1810 in Middleton or Luddington. Edward may have been born in East Haddon, but year unknown. They had three children I know of: Mary Anne, John Edmund and William Samuel.

Edward died in 1840. In 1849 Charlotte gave birth to my 3xgreat grandfather Robert Charles, which lists Robert Collingwood as father. Robert senior is not listed on the 1851 Census. Charlotte is listed as a widow - but is that from Edward or Robert?

Any of this sound at all familar? Can anyone help?

The family rumour is that we are connected to the Northumberland Collingwoods - but I'm yet to find a link.

British admiral, born in Newcastle upon Tyne, Tyne and Wear, NE England, UK. He joined the navy at 11, and from 1778 his career was closely connected with that of Nelson. He fought at Brest (1794), Cape St Vincent (1797), and Trafalgar (1805), where he succeeded Nelson as commander. He was created baron after Trafalgar, and is buried beside Nelson in St Paul's Cathedral.

I am searching for information concerning John Collingwood, who married Jane Muscoe in 1714 in Barking, Essex, England. It does not appear that they had any children. John Collingwood was a victualler or merchant living in Ratcliffe, Stepney, Middlesex, England when he died. His will was dated Aug. 4, 1727 and it was written July 27, 1727. His siblings mentioned in the will were Elizabeth Collingwood, Sarah Parker, William Collingwood, and George Collingwood. His will mentions a home or property in Surrey, England. HIs wife, Jane Muscoe, was d/o Salvator Muscoe, a stone mason from Italy, who came to London, England in 1666. He lived on Monmouth Street in St. Giles-in-the-Fields outside of London. When Jane Muscoe died, she was living in St. Ann's in Soho outside of London, England. She had siblings: Salvator Muscoe, Jr. and Elizabeth Muscoe, who emmigrated to the Rappahannock River area of Virginia before 1702. She also had a brother named Joseph Muscoe. I am searching for any information concerning John Collingwood and Jane Muscoe and their family origins. Any help at all would be very much appreciated.

My dad has just received our family bible, which takes Collingwoods back to 1847 in Notts and Lincs. From censuses I have managed to go one further back, then found this board Ancestry. Here is what I have so far, bearing in mind that I have only been doing this 3 weeks

I am researching the Colligwood family tree and hit a roadblock with William W. Collingwood around 1794(or '96)in Newberry Township, Pennsylvania. He had a son William Henry, who eventually moved to Ohio. I believe William W. was a son of Cuthbert Collingwood. The roadblock comes in where William W. left England with his (then) wife Jane. He moved to Coniston in the Lake District to be private secretary and collaborator to John Ruskin, and was for a time a professor at Reading University. He spent his summer holidays with his four sisters in the Lake District, where they met the author Arthur Mitchell Ransome and became the real-life models of the children in his Swallows and Amazons series of adventure books. He qualified as a doctor, later joining a pharmaceutical company, where he developed the drug sodium cromoglycate to combat asthma, from which he was himself a sufferer. A pilot and flying instructor during the war, he developed the Spinhaler device to inhale the drug, based on the aerodynamic principles of aircraft propellers.

Hello all! My father-in-law's mother was Laura Johnston, nee Collingwood, daughter of (perhaps) Charles B. Collingwood. My wife seems to think that her GGrandfather was a Judge in Lansing Michigan in and around 1920's.
Laura married Stanley Johnston, a noted horticulturalist and professor at what is now Michigan State University in Lansing. They had two sons, Stanley Collingwood Johnston and his brother, William.
Laura had a sister as well. Her name was Rebecca.
Does anybody have anything on Charles B. Collingwood? Who were his ancestors? How far back can you go? What was his wife's name / lineage? Anything on Rebecca Collingwood?
My daughter is named Rebecca and my son's middle name is Collingwood.
Any info you can provide will help me score huge brownie points with my in-laws!

We are looking for descendants of the other 6 children of William and Jane (Lnu) Collingwood, to swap/compare and possibly develop communications. William and Jane Collingwood children are: Martha b. 12/18/1792, William W. b. 4/2/1796 (this is our line), John b. ?/?/1797, Richard C. b. 9/4/1800, James b. 8/6/1803, Rebecca 2/17(?19)/1806, and Samuel b. 5/18/1810. We would also like to find any descendants of siblings William Collingwood had, or that his father Richard had. Stories handed down through the generations say we are/were of the same line as Lord Admiral Cuthbert Collingwood (yes, we know all he had was 2 daughters. Supposedly the connection is through a brother or uncle.) Supposedly one of our ancestors was a knight, but then the family lost it's title and lands (no story as to how they were lost). Supposedly there is still a burned out relic of a castle somewhere in England that once belonged to the family. If any of this sounds familiar, or if you are descended from the line of one of William W.'s siblings - we'd love to talk with you!

My gg grandfather was David R. edwards, born abt 1859 in Marengo , Ia. His obit list a sister Mrs. S.C. Collingwwod of Williamsburg, 1/2 brothers W.R. Edwards of Williamsburg, Lewis/Louis Edwards of Brighton, Colo. and Mrs. W. Emerich of Marshalltown. I believe this to be Davids sister
1900 census for Iowa County Iowa , Troy Township - shows Seth Collingwood June 1852, Mary - wife b. July 1858, daughters Minnie & Della, also living with them is Ralph A. Edwards-nephew born December 1998.

Looking for anyone with the same interest in this man who died after his will was written on 1 December 1712 at Bampton in Gloucestershire - but now in Oxfordshire.

His wife was Ann and he named childen Ann KINDER, Thomas, John, William, Benjamin and Bartholomew as well as sons-in-law William PAINE, Thomas EVERSON and Andrew KENDALL.

I am looking for any info re: Louisa Helen Collingwood. She was born April 17, 1881 in Red Ash, Virginia. She died August 17, 1961 in Johnson City, Tn. She married William James Roberts and had about 16 or 17 babies, most of whom died stillborn. Louisa's mother's name may have been Elizabeth? Father's name unknown. There were at least 3 female siblings; Rachel, Nan, and Mae. Louisa's maternal grandfather was a Cherokee Indian, who possibly had about 22 children. They are possibly from the N.C. branch (Eastern Band) of the Cherokee. At least this is what was told to the family. Many of the family lived in the Virginia, West Virginia, Tn., and N.C. area. Louisa Collingwood and William James Roberts had 3 live children; Herman Roberts, Della E. Roberts, and Edna virginia Mae Roberts;(all of whom are deceased now). Did you know that during the Civil War that there were 35 Collingwood's who served with the Union, yet in the 1860 Federal Census there were only 24 families recorded. Did you know that a Collingwood married a Dorothy Bowes whose sister was Queen Victoria. She would be my ninth Great Grandmother. Did you know that Lord Admiral Cuthbert Collingwood who took over the English Fleet when Admiral Nelson was mortally wounded. Did you know that the Lord Adm. Cuthbert was also the Commander of the Royal Marines. Did you know that George the VI during WWI served aboard the naval vessel the 'HMS Collingwood' then became King in 1936.

Claude Collingwood Rena Reeves had three children born in Oakland from about 1930 to the 1940s. Does anyone know where Manon, Steve (baptised Terill or Terrill), or Darcy are? Manon married a policeman who's last name was Daugherty. Their mother, Rena, died in Nevada. Darcy was a private stationed in Germany in the 1950's. Would appreciate any help anyone can give me.
