I'm sorry, I don't know. However, Colom and Colon are the same surnames. The name Colom sometimes changed to Colon when the families migrated to the New World. My great-grandfather was Sebastian Colom Alcover born 1860 in Soller, Mallorca, lived in Bartolo, Lares and married Ramona Muniz, B. about 1850. Ramona's mother was Rosa Perez B. 1828. Note: If anyone out there has more information on this family, please contact me.

Hi! I'm glad you received my message and replied. My father's name was Luis Frau Colom. His parents were Miguel Frau B. 10/2/1866 and Maria Magdalena Colom B. 1876. Maria Colom's siblings were Rosa, Miguel, Juan, Sebastian, Isabel Bartolo (or Bartolome) and Jose. Three of the names you mentioned were my fathers uncle/aunt's names. His mother's parents were Ramona Muniz Perez, born in Lares in either 1848 or 1851; and Sebastian Colom maybe B. in 1872 or 1860. I have that Sebastian died 1/25/09. Ramona's parents were Jose Muniz B. 1824 and Rosa Perez B. 1828. They were married in Lares. The 1884 census has some Frau's, Colom's and Alcover's names as paternal and maternal names intermixed so I believe the families knew each other. My family also has their names sometimes listed as Colom or Colon. I think it is curious that you have a Rosa Perez and I do too. Do you have the date of births or of marriage? On the Frau side there is also the surname of Oliver. If it is not the same family, they probably knew each other.
No we are not related. Genealogy is my hobby and I like to help others. Anyway, if you search "Voluntarios de Puerto Rico" on Rootsweb.com, you will find Sebastian Colon (not listed Colom)Alcover listed under Battallon 14: for Utuado, Adjuntas & Ciales. He is listed at the end under "Capitanes". In the 1910 census I could not find him or his wife. Maybe they had died? I did find their son Sebastian with his wife Rosa Perez. Also I found 3 of their other children living together: Isabel, Maria & Jose. Everybody is in Lares. If you can find out Magdalena Alcover second surname, there are some Alcover Ferrer in the Spaniards listed as claiming residency in PR. What is your father's name?

It is possible that Antonio Colom, Sebastian Colom and Bartolo or Bartolome who were brothers are the same who were my father's maternal uncles. Their parents were Ramona Muniz and Sebastian Colom who were married 11/10/1872. They also had siblings: Rosa, Maria Magdalena (who was my grandmother, Juan, Isabel and Jose Colom. Contact me is you have more information or is you want more information.
Martha Estes
MFESTES@Bellsouth.net

Dear Carmen4Maria,
The family you listed appear to be my father's ancestors. The children listed were his maternal uncles and aunts. I ad the name of Ramona Muniz instead of Munoz and Sebastian Colom and didn't have the name "Alcover" connected with the family. But I didn't have any information of Sebastian's parents. If you have further information please E-mail me. It appears that we may be related.
MFESTES@Bellsouth,net
Martha Frau Estes

Maria "GIA" (GM) came from spain (not sure what part yet).

I have some other names such as sebastian colom and bartalome colom. I believe he was my GGF.
