Hi all - as far as I was aware the name Colton in Ireland originated from the Irish O'Comhaltain from Donegal - the name is mentioned in the Annals of The Four Masters which were written between 1632 and 1636. The annals were a written history of early Ireland. Found this extract - Ua Ceallaigh, lord of Ui-Fiachrach of Ard-sratha, was killed by the Ui-Comhaltain, on the island of Loch-Laeghaire. Ui Comhaltain would be the plural, in other words the Colton clan. Angie
