Classification: Query
Surnames: Columbia, Julian
I have been going through census for Canaan and also have found my Jane/Jennie Columbia (thank you Uncle Jerry)!
Here is a list of Columbia's I have found in the census please if anyone can add any I would love to read them!
Lewis Columbia b. 1825 Canaan 1860 census Dwelling # 725 #734
Anthony Columbia 1806 w. Canaan 1860 census Dwelling #742 #750
Eliza b. 1790 wife?
William Columbia 1832 Canaan 1860 census Dwelling #743 #751
All the above b. in Canada, these 3 do not live very far away from Each other. Possibly related!
Question Could Eliza be Anthony's Wife?
Timothy Columbia b. abt 1825 Canada. 1880 census, Lyme Grafton Co. Wife's name is Sophia b. abt 1835. There are 2 children listed. Peter b. abt 1867 and Rosa b. abt 1869. Please read below.
My family..........
1870 census Canaan Mirtie/Minty/Mirta Columbia b. abt 1816 Canada m. abt 1848, Sophia b. abt 1831 Canada.
children are:
Edward, Jane/Jennie, Joseph R., Frank, Henry, Peter and Rosa. Please note above could this be my Spphia with Timothy?
Also going through the census I have found this.
Edward Columbia my Uncle moved to Templeton MA along with his son John. I believe they are buried there.
My Jane/Jennie m. Frank Julian, the name Julian changes a lot.
I also found Martin Columbia b. abt 1859/1860 he married Julia Hadley dau of William and Mary Hadley of Dorchester Grafton NH. I believe this man to be my Uncle brother to my Jane. In the 1900 and 1910 census he is living in Claremont NH just streets away from Jane's son George my Ggrandfather. Jane also lived in this town. Thinking about it could Mirtie mean Martin? could this be Martin JR.?
Also in the 1900 census for Canaan Peter Glode b. 1838 Canada living with children:
Walter, Margaret, Nettie, Freddie, Julia, Charlie and Evelyn. Also living with him is Sophia Columbia Mother in Law b. 3/1831 Canada 11 children 9 living. The newest post is for Alvena/Alvina and I believe her to be daughter of Mirtie and Sophia Columbia........my GGGAunt
I hope to hear any ideas and imput soon
Thanks
Michelle
