Thanks for your message Mike. I would very much appreciate hearing from you asap as my father's health is failing. I have quite a bit of information on the Columbus line as well, including some newspaper articles and photographs of Issac Columbus II. This and an account of Issac Columbus, son of one of Christopher's descendants. One of the two brothers , left the family's original home in Genoa hundreds of years ago. One of the two, started for Morocco, but his travels later are thought to have him return to Europe, and thereafter to the then-named Bohemia. An offshoot of the Columbus family apparently remained there, until many later crossed to the Americas. The other brother, travelled to France, and he or his son settled in New France, Canada. Issac Columbus, son the the one who travelled to New France, was the first Columbus to settle in Ontario. Families in Canada and Iowa trace their lineage to Christopher through this.. Issac Columbus was an armorer for the British Garrison of " Muddy York" as Toronto was then known, in 1800. He later moved to Penetanguishene, Ontario with a large family as a British Garrison was established there. He had a family of 12 sons and daughters, dying at age 73 in 1882. Louis Columbus had the honor of being presented to the Prince of Wales. the late King Edward VII, on his visit to Barrie in 1860. Mrs. Louis Columbus (nee Sarah Maines, was born in Ireland , Rosnally, Queen's County in 1817, coming to Canada at 2 years old and settling in Toronto where she married Louis. She was only 15 years old when her first child , Francis Columbus ( no doubt the origin of my g. granda pa's name and on down through my father , myself and my two sons, Kenneth Francis and James William. My name is William Francis, my Father's Francis Hugh and his father James Francis , son of Susan and James .She died in 1910 in her 94th year. Her son Francis (8 sons and 4 daughters )was born in Toronto in 1832 and came to Penetang with his mother the same year. Christopher Columbus, the well-know lighthouse keeper of Whiskey Island was a son.I have much more . I look forward to hearing from you. Bill Quigley
