Combest origins

I have two questions for anyone who may know the answers. My grandparents were Frank and Helen Combest of St. Louis, MO, but I do not know any farther back than that. I know that at one time, Frank was traced back to the original Combests that came to America in the 1700's. Does anyone know where the original Combest's came from?
