Death of Mrs. Nettie Combest

From Troy – Bereft:

On the morning of the 7th of April a messenger, sent from the shining portals of heaven, foldee its tired wings for a moment and on its return plucked form the form of Mrs. Nettie Combest, her spirit and wafted it back to God who gave it, and now her form lies sleeping neath the newly made grave where the sweet violets are growing and the gentle zephyrs are playing in the City of the dead, where the sun casts its gentle rays by day and the moon her silvery beams by night.

While our hearts are sad and bleeding, our sympathy goes out for the husband and four little motherless girls in this sad hour of grief.

Mrs. Nettie Combest was born and raised in the state of Kentucky. She became a member of the Christian Church at the age of 14 years. During her sickness and even up to her death she was hopeful to the end. She was a devoted Christian, a kind mother and a true companion to her husband. May Gods blessings be with the husband and four little girls is the wishes of a friend to the family.

I know that at one time, Frank was traced back to the original Combests that came to America in the 1700's. Does anyone know where the original Combest's came from?

I am looking for the “Samuel Combest and His Descendants” and “John Combest and his Descendants” I have “The Combest of Kentucky” Samuel was my 3rd Great Grandfather and John Combest 4th Great Grandfather. I am searching for the parents of Mose Combast. The surname “Combast “seems to have had a few different spellings in the past; Combast, Combass, Combest, and Cumbast. Anyone with information on any of the below mentioned, please email me. I am searching for ancestors of Mose Combast as well as descendants and his siblings. The family has lived primarily in two states Georgia and Florida. There is also “family talk” of Rudolph Combast and a Matt Combast. Matt Combast is thought to have changed the family name from Combass to Combast. I do not have record of this only “family talk”. I was also told that Rudolph’s family moved to Madison, Florida. This would have all been around the 1880’s and early 1900’s.
Mose Combast b. February 14, 1878 d. April 28, 1962.
He married Maggie Harrell b. August 1, 1887 d. July 1, 1972
Mose and Maggie Harrell Combast had the following children::
Jonnie Combast b. June 23, 1913 d. September 20, 1973.
Jonnie married Lelia Hutto.
Jimmy Combast b. April 10, 1907 d. May 11, 1960. Jimmy never married.
Jodie Combast b. November 23, 1918 d. July 15, 2000. Jodie married Julie Brock.
Martha Jane Combast b. January 18, 1916 d. March 1, 2001.
Martha Jane married Jessie A. Hurley
The descendents of the above mentioned have been found in
Decatur County, GA, Madison County FL,
Pinellas County FL., Hillsborough County FL. And Pasco County FL. They may have been more children of Mose and Maggie Harrell Combast, but this is all I have at this time. Please email me at handhistory@excite.com if you have any information on this family. Thank you.

I'd like to correspond with any descendants of Welthy Ann Combest and Nelson Callaway Henderson (1829). Also, Polly Jane Combest and Fidella Henderson (1831). These were brothers that married sisters. The families lived in Claiborne Co., TN and probably Pulaski Co., KY. Wm. G. Henderson is the father of the brothers. Trying to find more about Wm. G. family. I know the younger Henderson children moved with Wm. G. to Adair Co., MO.

I am looking for the names of my grandfathers parents. My grandfather, Earl Travis Combest was born in Breckenridge TX on 03-01-1930. I don't know if he had been married before, but he married my grandmother, who had been married before, Lavesta Aldine Oliver on 01-06-1950. She had children from a previous relationship/marriage but total they had 6 children. I don't believe that my grandfather was a only child. Neither was my grandmother. But I don't know any of the names of their siblings. They have both passed on now, and my children are very interrested in there heritage. Any help that anyone can give me would be great.

I am looking for some information on a Richard Combest from California who died in the late 1980's. He was my half-uncle (my dad and him were half-brothers) It turns out that his mother Ruby Mae Kelley had married William Franklin Combest in the early 1920's in Texas. Richard was born in Victoria, TX in 1923, not long after that his mother either was widowed or divorced and met my grandad Homer Fitzwater. They had a son (my dad) David Hugh Fitzwater in the 1920's, my dad and Richard were close but with my dad dying in 1978 I lost contact with Richard. I found out he died in the 1980's by the SSDI. I thought if I somehow could contact his family I might get some information on my dad's mother side of the family

Combest that died in a bridge accident

Does anyone know of a Combest that was married to a very tall Indian woman an had two children- William and Mary Lived in Casey Co. Ky. he was killed in a bridge accident this would have in the 1880s I believe. family lore has it that she walked to southern Illinois carried the two kids on her back an married a man by the name of Sharp. the kids took the name of Sharp. Please I would like to hear if you had a relitive that was in a bridge accident about that time frame.

My husband's name is Stephen Scott Watts, he was adopted in 1965 to Jennings and Charity Watts of Knott County, Kentucky. He was born in a Lexington hospital from a woman with the last name Combest. He has been told his father was Tom Fitzgerald from Lexington. His birth date is 4-27-65. He was born prematurely and Charity came to Lexington to stay with him until he was released from the hospital and adopted him.
