In the Diocese of Baton Rouge Catholic Church Records, 1848-1852 it list the marriage of Gilbert, son of Gilbert Commeaux and Constance Klleinpeter, on 19 Jan 1952 to Susan Ann West, Daughter of James West and Nancy Hawes. It then lists the witness and where it is recorded.
Girls named Susan were sometimes called "Mary". I believe Susan Ann and Mary Ann are indeed the same individual.
Ann Comeaux
Anncomx@bresnan.net (Please put genealogy in the subject line)

I am just getting started on working on the Comeaux - Meche family. My grandmother was Onora Comeaux, the daughter of Joseph Comeaux and Emeline Meche. I know that Joseph's parents were Edmond Comeaux and Tarsina Savole or Savoie.
Emeline's parent's were Honore Meche and Josephine ( do not know maiden name). I was hoping you might have some information to share.

They are called Southwest Louisiana Records.

The SW books were placed on a searchable CD and this is where I got the recorrds I shared.

http://www.hebertpublishing.com is his publishing company that is now run by his niece since his death.

Have you traced the Castille name to the Spanish settlement of New Iberia or one of the Canary Island settlements or a garrison?
I don't know how you did it. You have just solved the biggest family mystery of the last 100 years! I always heard that I had a great-great-great grandfather somewhere who spoke French and may have been named Norbert. Your information proves the old family tales were definitely true. I don't know how to thank you enough. I told my brother and all he could say was, "Wow, I guess our last name really came from an actual family from which we were disconnected over a hundred years ago." We both agree that we can now carry on our family name with pride. By the way, what is "Hebert SW LA records"?
Sincerely, Joana Mia Castille-Argote.

Leona Comeaux born late 1800's

I am crrently looking for my G-G-Grandmother, Leona Comeaux born between 1870 and 1880. I know that she had children with a Castile (but don't know his name) because my Great Grandma was Beatrice Castile/Castille Johnson. Leona also had Joseph Daly Castile and Mamie Castile. She later had more children with Eddie Nelson and had Clarence and Susie Mae around 1910.

I have no idea who Leona's ancestors are; I only know that the family seems to be from/around Crowley. So far I don't even know if Leona was her first name, middle name, or just what she preferred to go by. Any possible help would be EXTREMELY appreciated as my brother and I are the only living descendants that we know of from the Castile/Comeaux line and we are in Los Angeles. THANK YOU SO MUCH for any help you may provide. God bless!
