This Marcus L.F. Comer born 1805 Hancock County Georgia, was the son of James Thomas Comer, a Rev. Soldier. The pictures that I have start with ythe great great grandson James Washinton Comer born June 1870, and he was the son of Francis (Frank M.) Comer. Frank M. Comer's wife was Mary Jane Patrick. after Frank died she married Mr. William A. Willis.

I've only recently made a connection to my Comer line (since it took three years to find Minnie's dad). I've seen references to Augustine being a Revolutionary War soldier. Has anyone made a DAR record that you know of?

(6) Ople Marguerite Yost married Oscar Murphy. Ople and Oscar had one son,
(7) George Allen Murphey (living) who married Elizabeth Garza (living). George and Liz have

I am looking for members of the Cleveland Clay Comer family. Cleveland was born in Texas, but moved to Muskogee County, Oklahoma, then to Dewey County, Oklahoma. From there I don't know. He was a minister. His children were Anna, Mary, Beatrice, Brock, Eudorus and Emma.

Eudorus was living in Enid, Oklahoma when he died.

Beatrice is my line. She married my grand uncle Charlie Sale.

Would like to know where Cleveland and family are buried. Also would like to know whether they were living in Woods County in 1940?

I have Nathan b: 25 dec 1827 Nathan Married Melissa Ratcliff.

Father of Nathan was Jesse Comer 25 june 1973 in NC, Married Elizabeth Ann Rains.

Father of Jesse Comer was Jesse Comer, 3 may 1757 in PA. Had two different wifes, both had children. Ann Chamness and Mary Cox.

Father of Jesse Comer is Robert Comer. abt. 1710.

I do have some info, however I have hardly any ties current living decendants of Robert and Rebecca (Houghton) Comer.

I am looking for any info if you are a decendant of Robert Comer. I am always willing to give what I have to anybody
interested.

I'm researching the life of 1940s movie star Veronica Lake for a biography. According to the Social Security Application of Lake's mother Constance, Lake's maternal grandmother was a Frances Bridget Comer. Comer married a James Francis Ockelman. Now, here's were it gets a little confusing: Ockelman was reportedly the last name of Lake's biological father, yet this document clearly lists it as her mother's maiden name. (Most sources cite Trimble as Constance's maiden name.)

I'm looking for any information on Frances Bridget Comer Ockelman (or Trimble.) I have very little to go on - the only fact I know is that Constance, Lake's mother, was born in Brooklyn circa 1902.

Any individual that can supply verifiable information on Lake's genealogy will be included in the acknowledgment.

I am the grand-daughter of Constance Francis Marie Ockelman aka Veronica Lake. I am looking for information on her Father Harry W. Ockelman (of Danish descent maybe?). According to the information I have found he was born in 1893 in PA, died in 1932 in an explosion while working for Sun Oil Company (now Sunoco). I know that he lists himself as a veteran on the 1930 census, so I would like to know what branch of the military and when he served. Who were his family?

He was married to my great-great grandmother who also called herself Constance, but her maiden name is listed as Versnica Frances Charlotta Trimble (I believe she was of Irish descent). She later remarried Antony Keane, after Harry died. Did she have sisters or brothers? How where her parents? When did she die and where? Any and all information is greatly appreciated.

They both lived in Brooklyn, but I know that they moved around a lot.

I am researching my grandmothers' paternal grandparents, Michael J. Comer and his wife Elizabeth Hall Comer.
Michael was born in Ireland (county not known) October 9, 1853. He was a stableman by trade. Michael died April 25, 1916 and is buried at Holy Cross Cemetery in Brooklyn, NY.

Also buried there are his wife Elizabeth and their son William J. Comer, who died March 1917. The grave was purchased by their daughters, Frances Comer Trimble, Mary Comer Nelson and Catherine Comer Fogarty. I believe there was a Margaret Comer as well.

Our Comer family was related to the actress Veronica Lake through Frances Comer Trimble.

and had completed her doctoral course work at the University of South Florida.
She retired in May 2007 after a 32-year career as a teacher in the Pasco County, School System
and most recently as a reading specialist.
As an active member of Ridge Manor United Methodist Church, Jane was dedicated to the children with their FBI (Faithful Bible Investigators) and especially the tutoring program.

Jane is survived by her husband, Thomas M. “Marty” Comer; mother Alberta; sister Lynda Ehrman;
stepsons Jon and Cory;
two nieces; one nephew;
two great-nieces; two great nephews;
and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Services were held March 4, 2008 at the church where memorials may be made in Jane’s honor as she had requested.

(1826) and George W. Comer (1825). William was married twice and had about 10 children from each marriage. He was born in Kanawha Co., and probably died in Jackson Co., WV. I hope someone out there is related to the COMER family who lived in Kentucky. They may have come from VA. I believe Linda COMER (maybe Malinda, Lydia, Lucinda)
would have been born either late 1700's or earily 1800's. She married a Mr. Lewis,(Robert or maybe Geroge)but not sure. I understand they had many sons with names like George, James, William, Robert, Charles, Andrew and JOHN R.(Jack or Jackson)b:1835-1937 KY
is my ancestor. John R. married before the Civil War having four children Nancy,Robert,Lydia, Vince. His first wife was shot and killed.
After the war moved to Madison,Mercer County, MO 1870 census,Living in same house with sister Elizabeth Lewis Wiser and son Milton Wiser.
John R. then married Margaret Monk 12/28/1870 having many more children and moving on the OK.

I am a Comer family researcher. Madison Comer married Honor Moore in 1834 in Washington Co., VA. Honor (Moore) Comer is on the 1840 Washington Co., VA census with two daughters: one under age 5 and one age 5-10. I cannot find this family on later censuses or on tax lists between 1834 and 1850, and appears to have left the area. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Kathryn Greever

Thomas and Paul Comer were UE Loyalists to Upper Canada post 1784. Phebe md. a John Boice, Margaret Comer (probably d/o Thomas) md. William Boice and settled finally in Loughborough Township. Frontenac, Upper Canada (Ontario) after 1811 & before August 1819 from Ernestown. Wm. Boice/Boyce born ca 1780-3 in NY was a son of Wm. Boice & Elizabeth Snider. Wm. & Margaret had a dau. Margaret who md John Baird, dau. Elizabeth md. Conrad Staker abt 1833 & came into Kirtland Ohio with many others as LDS church members in 1837/38. We All Came here for a reason.We want to find out where we came from. I know that my family lived in Grayson county Va.
They go back to the First John Comer of Comers Rock.
My personal Quest is to find out Where this family came from. But I am also interested in hearing about your families.
The name of Comer comes from many sources.(Ireland Scotland,England,Germany,Holland.....). There are towns named Comer all over the World. Im sure that someone somewhere knows the story of how these places came by the name of Comer. Comers Rock Virginia is a good example.
CastleComer is another (in Ireland I believe) Comer England also. I'm sure we would all like to hear about them even if its just a legend.

A biography/family history of Cloyde Elmo Comer is included in "Montana, Its Story and Biography", Vol 2.

Cloyd was born 27 Sep 1882 to Stephen and Mary (Bodine) Comer, b. Newark, NJ & Michigan, respectively. Children: Cloyde E.; Mabel (Mrs. Severt Sorum), Worthington, MN; Walter, Worthington; Irvin, Minneapolis; Edna, d. in Worthington; Merle.

Cloyd attended country school and high school at Eagle Grove, IA, for two years, and later high school in Worthington, MN, and studied at Mankato; completed a law course at the Univ. of MN. Cloyde located to Culbertson, MT, 1909, and opened a law office at Medicine Lake, MT, Oct 1910. Sep 1918, he volunteered for the military service and remained at Camp Arthur, TX, until he was discharged in Dec 1918. Judge Comer had a homestead near Colridge, MT.

On 15 May 1913, Medicine Lake, MT, Cloyde married Miss Hilda Peterson, b. in Sweden in 1890, educated in Minnesota, taught school in Medicine Lake. In the 1930 Federal Census, Cloyde, Hilda, and son, James, age 8, were living in Missoula, MT.

Before her death, my Mother left a note that her mother's parent's (Maude Comer m: John A. Smith, Sr.) names were Philander V. Comer and Minerva Roberts. I have searched the web and found a marriage between the two in Ford County, KS, on Sep 22, 1886. I also found a Philander Comer (Holly, CO). I remember my mother talking frequently of Comer relatives from Holly, CO. I am having trouble finding anything more than this. Does anyone have any information regarding this lineage?

My grandfather was Walter Wilson Comer born 1919 in Shendoah Va, married to Fannie Lee Wyant; with 3 daughters Lavyonne, Eleanor and Denise. <p>
Walter's parents were Andrew Elmer Comer and Ettie Virigina Dovel.They were married 1909. Both are buried in Shendoah Rt 340, left of road. They had the following children: Eugene C born 1912, Louise 1914, Lucille 1916, Walter W ( my grandpa) 1919, Dorothy, and Nellie (Nellie lived in Maryland and just past away last 1-2 years ago)<p>
Ettie Virigina Dovels parents were Adam Beauregard Dovel Jr and Henietta Stole. ( Henreitta was part Cherokee Indian). They were married 1879. Buried 1948 Grove hill methodist church cementary below Shendoah Va. <p>

Included in this grouping is a photo of 'Miss Stella Comer'.
She appears to be a very young woman maybe older than a teen but younger than 26 or so.
Although she is our family, we haven't a clue as to which family she is from. Anyone wishing to see the photo, I will gladly send it.

Mrs. Comer was born July 7, 1916, in Page County, daughter of the late Lynwood and Frances Jenkins Nichols. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Carlton Comer, on Jan. 16, 1978.
Surviving are a son, Kinley Comer of Shenandoah; daughter, Etta Plum of Woodstock; brother, Elwood Nichols of Annandale; two sisters, Josephine Plum of Shenandoah and Doris Raynes of Harrisonburg; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

I am seeking information on a Comer who married an Ora (or Orey) Heslar b. abt. 1873 in Iola, KS, they married in Missouri, possibly Camden or Dallas county. Believe this family maybe Elbert Comer and wife according to 1900 Camden county, MO census having children Maude b. Aug, 1893; Florence b. Dec, 1897; Perry B. b. Jan, 1896 and Emmet(t), b. Oct. 1890.

1910 finds Elbert living with a different wife, Annie and stepchild(ren) in Pettis county. Orey, and maybe some members of her family, moved eventually to Oklahoma and she living there as late as 1952.

Comer married Roxey Martin in Winston County, MS in 1872. They had a daughter - however the daughter and her mother were living with Roxey's parents in 1880.....I cannot find either Roxey or her daughter after 1880.....

The bride is the daughter of Tim and Rhonda Adams of Terre Haute. She graduated in 1998 from Terre Haute North Vigo High School, earned a bachelor of arts degree in biology from Hanover College in 2002, and is pursuing a master's degree in social work at Indiana University-Purdue University in Indianapolis.

The bridegroom is the son of Kevin and Russena Comer of Kokomo. He graduated in 1998 from Northwestern High School in Kokomo and earned a bachelor of arts degree in chemistry from Hanover College in 2002. He attends medical school at Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis.

The bride was given in marriage by her parents.

Jocelyn Eglen was honor attendant. Bridesmaids were Adrienne Adams, the bride's sister-in-law; Kristin Comer, the bridegroom's sister; and Alice Comer, the bridegroom's sister-in-law.

Grant Comer, the bridegroom's brother, was best man. Matt, Levi and Luke Adams, all brothers of the bride, were groomsmen.

Robert Lee Comer, 90, of 1121 Ramona Ave., Shenandoah died June 19, 1993, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg.
Mr. Comer was born May 26, 1903, in Hagerstown, Md., and was the son of Noah Lee Comer and Mary Elizabeth Minnick Comer.
He retired from N&W Railway as yard master and was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge of Shenandoah and the Shenandoah Baptist Church.
In March, 1923, he married Esther McAlister, who died in July 1979.
Surviving are one son, Leray Comer of Shenandoah; one sister, Edna Lewis of Port Republic; four children raised in the Comer home, Violet Lucas, Melissa Mongold, Tammy Humphries, and Chris Lucas; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Warren Grant will conduct the funeral at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Kyger Funeral Home in Shenandoah. Burial will be in the Mount Lebanon Church Cemetery.

I noticed that there were quite a few Comer posts with Oklahoma in them. Does anyone have a Fern Stutz Comer in their families? She was born around 1912 and died in the late 80s near the Tulsa area.

She was born in Wheeling, West Virginia on October 9, 1901 and lived there her whole life. Her parents were Martin Comer and Elizabeth Eisenoch. Abby wrote: "I am writing to you because I was told by a relative of mine in Iowa that one of you is related to the Comer family from Lorimer, Iowa....I'm descended from a Jesse Comer who married Sarah Pearce from North Carolina through his son (not named)...some of his descendants moved back to Pensylvania near Pittsburg--not too far from where I currently live." William P. Comer of Crown Point, Indiana in Lake county was killed February 16, 1945, in the South Pacific during World War II. He is buried in the Manila American Cemetery in the Philippines. We are seeking information regarding his military and civilian life.

We are seeking family and military information about servicemen from your county killed in the South Pacific during World War II. There are 17,206 Americans buried here and thousands more that are missing or buried at sea and are honored on the “Tablets of the Missing”. My wife and I visited the cemetery as visitors and left with a mission in our heart. We have been taking photographs of the graves of the Indiana servicemen buried here and have been uniting them (at no charge) with their family members in Indiana and across the United States. To receive the photo of your family member, neighbor or friend all you need is a working email address. We do not send them to regular mailing addresses due to the costs. Please help us find the families of the men that might still be living. Our project is only successful because of teamwork and your contributions are noted on our website. If you wish to help us we will be pleased to add your name to our ACKNOWLEDGMENT page on the website. The obituaries usually did not appear till to three months after the death date.

If you are not a genealogist you can help by just picking up the telephone directory and find someone with the same last name and give them a call. It has worked many times for us.

Michael Comer, wife Elizabeth, settled in Brooklyn, NY

I am seeking information on the origins and decendants of Michael Comer and his wife, Elizabeth (either Hall or Ryan) and their children, my great grandmother, Mary E. Comer (married Charles F. Nelson), Catherine M. Comer, Frances Comer, Margaret Comer and William Comer.

Michael and Elizabeth were both born in Ireland. Their children were all born in New York. Mary was born in 1874, Catherine in 1877, Frances 1875, Margaret 1881 and William July 12, 1887.

The Comers moved around quite a bit. They lived on Spencer Street, Skillman Ave., and Franklin Ave., all in Brooklyn, NY. Michael was a stableman. I believe they are all buried at Holy Cross Cemetery, Brooklyn, NY, but am awaiting confirmation of that.
