Mary:

Is it a coincidence that my wife's name is also Mary Comes. Middle name is Elizabeth. Her father, John Comes, retired from the U.S. Navy in 1957 after 30 years on active duty. He also spent 4 years in the army before joining the Navy.

John was a Jr. His father, John W. Comes, Sr., was a farmer from Kansas. John was the youngest child in the family that consisted of 8 or 9 kids. The family moved to Southern California, I believe, in the 20's. John Sr. farmed on property that is now Universal Studies in Hollywood. He sold the property to some movied stars (Red Skelton was one of them) and they built homes near the studio.

John passed away July 3, 1993 in Medford, Oregon and is buried at the nearby Memorial Cemetary.

I know that John was married 3 times.
