Since finding Issac's obit, a lot of things are clearer now. However, I don't think Electus helped his father write that poem, since he was nine at the time of Isaac's death :)
Rumor has it the coauthor was either his brother Sanford or his wife Mary.

Do you have when/where Isaac was born? None of Stephen's children were baptized in the same church as the previous Douglass's. So I'm guessing he was born somewhere between Norwich and Middletown CT, before Stephen followed his brother Caleb to Whitestown, NY.
