My grandfather was Norman Claude Frederick Comley who was born in Adelaide Australia. He had at least one brother, Horace, who fought with the AIF in the 1st. World War and I think 3 sisters- Ruby, Pearl & Lorna. He married my grandmother Linda Donetta Fenske around 1913 in Melbourne Australia. They had 10 children - Muriel, Bill, Alma ,Norman, Linda & Horace (twins), Leslie, Lorna & Ron (twins) & Joan. Only Linda, Horace, Lorna & Joan are still living. My Grandparents split up in 1928 and Norman Claude lived with a lady called Grace until his death about 1967.

Comely/Comley Gloucestershire England.

I have found quite a few of my family on the Comely side go ing back from my g.gran Anna Bennett Comely (who married a Garlick) to John and Mary Comely who were having children around 1800. The family were farmers from Cowhill, Oldbury-on-Severn, Thornbury in Gloucestershire and probably before that at Westonbirt near Tetbury also Gloucestershire but on the Cotswold Hills. Family names seem to have been, Robert, William, James, John, Mary, Anna, and Elizabeth. Please contact me if you have, or would like further info.

His family came to Australia in the mid 1800s and settled in Adelaide South Australia. I think his mother's surname was Luke. Does this ring a bell with your family?

Hi Jim,
It sounds like we have a connection somewhere. My g-grandmother was Lucinda Comley. She was born in 1832 in KY. She had an older sister named Louisa ,born in KY.1829,a sister named Elzina Morrow Comley, born in 1833 in IN,A brother Grandville L. Comley, born in 1835 in IN, Sister Ellen Comley born 1837,Amanda Mathilda Comley born 1842.They moved to Iowa for a short time across the border from MO.,then to Scotland Co. MO. I have quite a bit of information aboout them in MO.James Comley is listed as being born in KY.in all the census I have seen.Where in KY.I am trying to find out ,also who he married and who was the Mother of these children. When he came to MO.no wife was listed. He married 2x in MO.He was 53 in the 1850 Scotland Co.census.Still there in 1860 and was 63.I have some info on a comley family in Garrard Co.KY.that seems possible as a family connection, but not sure. Please contact me at sage783211@aol.com I couldn't find out how to contact you.
