Comley males,

I am writing to you today to alert you to the fall DNA sale that FamilyTreeDNA is having. Kits ordered in this sale must be paid for by Dec. 31, 2009

You can join the FamilyTreeDNA project through the Cholmondeley surname group's webpages at http://www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/cholmondeley/

You can order your test on-line, and pay for the test on-line using a credit card. Test kits are mailed to your home, the inside of the cheek is scrapped by a Comley male family member, and the test kit is mailed back to the lab. All very convenient.

If you have an interest in DNA testing, now would be the opportune time to get tested.

The main COMLEYs in Cornwall started with Joseph James COMLEY (b 1843) who went to St Ives, with his wife and brother, but not until about 1870. John COMLEY (b 1807, Romsey) married Susan Brittain (b 1808, Gloucester) in 1837, but then moved to London - I have no idea why he would have been in Cornwall!
Other than these, I don't think I have found any other Cornwall COMLEYs. I don't recall anything else on my website (www.comley.org.uk) that would help with your brick wall.
COMLIE is a spelling I have not come across, and doing a search on FreeBMD, the only one that comes up is her marriage. If you haven't already done so, I would suggest checking with the register office and/or the original church register to see if the surname is correct.

Sophie or Sophia Comlie

I have hit a brick wall searching for the above who apparently was born in 1818 in Mevagissey, Cornwall. She married my 2nd great grandfather George Nuttall in 1848 in Youlegrave in Derbyshire. I have the marriage certificate but Sophia's father's name was left blank. I know there were several Comley's in Cornwall but I don't know where to go to try to get any further. Any help greatfully received.

You already have the links back to Norman Claude COMLEY, and I have given you the link from him back to John COMLEY in 1645. I am not sure what further information you hope to get.

Can you let me have any further information on descendants of William James COMLEY and Alexandra Ada Rogers? I have very little on their children, let alone grandchildren etc.

If you go to my website at http://www.comley.org.uk, then go to the bottom of the home page, under 'Gedcom Files', click on the 'MEAD' link. This will take you to the WorldConnect site. Do a search for 'Comley, Norman' and you will be able to track back from him to John COMLEY in Great Somerford, Wiltshire in the 1600s. There are no children shown for Norman.

There are lots around with COMLEY connections,. but I assume you mean with connections to those you have named. A bit more information would be useful - especially where in the world your COMLEYs came from. I don't recognise any of the names as British COMLEYs

By following the link at the bottom of the home page to the 'COMLEY' Gedcom on the wWorldConnect site, you can then do a search for him and track him back to Thomas COMLEY, born before 1714, in Romsey, Hampshire

I would be interested in exhanging some information. On my family tree I have down as far as Stella May Comley (my 7th cousin once removed).

I have been exchanging information with Noel for a number of years. I assume you have visited Andrew Mead's website at www.comley.org.uk which also goes as far as Stella May (click on the Mead Gedcom).

We are all descended from John Comley c1675 and Sarah (of Great Somerford, Wilts.)

There is a 3-year-old Daisy Conley in the 1880 census for Richland County, Ohio, but no Daisy Comley, or even any Comley family in Ottawa (where Genoa is), Sandusky or Erie counties.

What is your source for Daisy's maiden name?

Found my Comley family line: Robert E Comley listed in 1880 census KY son of Patrick Comley born about 1823 IRE.
Robert and his wife Jane Thayer had at least two sons: Albert E and Sabe Comley which I have data on both if anyone is interested.

I am trying to find someone with Comley family connections. I have a Albert E Comley born abt 1882 married to Lulu Mae Townsend born about 1883. Some of the family include Wilford Carl Comley who married my cousin Fern Ledvina. There is Dorothy A who married a Busenbark, James, Glenn Albert, Jeanette R who married Mac Stone, Richard D Comley married Nina Marie Lint, and Helen M who married a Clark.

Linda donetta fenske is the daughter of eugene otto fenske, and married norman claude fredrick comley on the 21/8/1912. in carlton vic.linda donetta was muriel comley's mother.

I think thier may be some sort of connection going on here my fathers gradmothers name was linda donetta fenske and she married a norman claude fredrick comley, in around 1913. one of thier childrens names was muriel donetta, my grandmother who married my grandfather maurice daniel hall. would be very greatfull for some more information.

i think i remember meeting you when i was a little girl. you was married to joan? can you tell me the connection between you and muriel's great grandfather. would be very greatful. have been trying to get some information from my dad maurice, but his memory is not so good.have traced the comley side of the family back to a william comley and his wife sarah alder who arrived in australia on the 20th feb 1855.

Have studied your comley family tree. and as much as i hate to say it i can't find a connection, can't find a norman claude fredrick, sarah ann alder any where, there is something to do with polish in there somewhere, so my dad tells me. i will admit i am new to all this so my be there is something that i am missing? if so please let me know.

I am researching my family history and i am decendant of Wiiiam Comley and Emily Grimwood,William and Sarah Alder
William and Emily had 11 known children one Frederick Charles who married Emma Louisa Marshall they had 5 known children one was Stella May Comley who married Mark Lelliott in 1911 they had one child my father Frederick George Stella died 5 Sept 1922 when my father was 8 months old

A definite connection.

I knew Muriel and Maurice very well.

They had four children; 2 sons and 2 daughters and many grandchildren.

Muriel and I share a great grandfather and I also married one of her daughters.

Dr JOHN COMLEY 1851 CENSUS

Could some kind person do a look up for me for Dr John Comley, surgeon and his wife Susannah (or Susan) on the 1851 census England, possibly Whitechapel or somewhere in London. One known child is John Muspratt Comley b. 1838 Whitechapel registration district. He also recame a Doctor and worked in Calcutta, India.
