I'm descended from some London Comon/Common/Commons-s. While trying to track down John Comon (b. c1785, don't know where) I came across a huguenot family who left France after the revocation of the Edict of Nantes. The name was something like Caumont but it was mispelt in a number of ways: Caumon, Comon, Comont, Coment, Common and Commons. Jean Caumont was said to have come from Rouen.
