Randy L. Como,
Pine Township, died at 2:07 a.m. Sunday, June 8, 2008, in his residence after an extended illness. He was 56.


Mr. Como was born Oct. 26, 1951, in Grove City to Harry and Doris Jean Miller Como.

He married Barbara Marie Rodgers July 20, 1996.

Mr. Como was a 1970 graduate of Grove City High School and a Navy veteran, serving on the USS Constellation.

He retired as a corrections officer for the Mercer County Regional Correctional Facility in 2001 after 28 years of service, earning the rank of captain.

He was a devoted husband and father and was a meticulous landscaper. He enjoyed camping and boating.

He is survived by: his wife, Barbara M. Como, at the residence; a son, Brock A. Como, at the residence; a daughter, Wendy L. and her husband Joseph Golembiewski, Palm Desert, Calif.; his mother, Doris J. and her husband Augustine Fabry; a brother, Richard H. Como; three sisters, Lori A. and her husband Brett Udy; Lisa K. Alessio; and April L. and her husband Christian Skibinski, all Grove City; and his in-laws, Marilyn Rodgers and David Hine, both Hubbard.

He was preceded in death by his father and an infant brother.

Calling hours: 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday (6-10-08) with a children’s service being observed from 7 to 7:20 p.m. in SMITH FUNERAL HOME, Village of Leesburg, 1778 Perry Highway, Springfield Township, Volant.

Service: Funeral service at 11 a.m. Wednesday (6-11-08) in Leesburg Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Thomas Gomola, pastor, officiating.

Interment: Crestview Memorial Park, Pine Township.
