does anyone know when prosper came to ny from canada with wife julia and children they lived in brasher falls ny in 1870 but we cant find out for sure if he changed the spelling of his last name from compeau to compo so we dont know who his parents were, he was born abt 1840 and died 1908

Barb-have you found any additional info on Thomas and Elizabeth Compo since your post? I have found both their obits in Watertown NY newspapers, but it did not list their parents names. Thomas came to the US about 1889 and Elizabeth came about 1893. In the 1900 US census they were living with their daughter Etta (Heneryetta} in Watertown,
NY with sons Charles and Robert. I have reason to believe that Elizabeth's maiden name was also Compo and her father was Isaac Compo from Athens, Ontario, Canada. Would like to hear from you.

I don't know if you have found anything yet but I just got some info from the 1881 census for Young & Escott Rear Leeds South Ontario

Thomas Compo male married 38 French Birthplace Ontario
Elizabeth female married 36 French Birthplace Ontario
Heneryetta female 16 French Birthplace Ontario
William male 13 French Birthplace Ontario
Harriett female 11 French Birthplace Ontrio
Charles male 5 French Birthplace Ontario
Ellen female 3 French Birthplace Ontario

I also found a marriage record for Thomas and Elizabeth. They were married 1 Sept 1863 Morristown, St Lawrence County.

I have a notation here that Thomas father was Charles and born in Athens also. Don't take Charles for fact as I don't have my source handy

I just wanted to touch bases with you as I am also a Compo descendent .Like Heidi Baldwin I descend from Levi Compo and Elizabeth Fitzpatrick ( I have a picture of them ) . My grandfather , Delancey David Compo was born on Nov 12 ,1884 in Athens Ontario CA . My mom who is 80 says thet Levi had another wife before Elizabeth Fitzpatrick and I wonder if maybe you are descended from that line . Delancey's brothers and sister's were....Charlotte Angeline ,Clarence Franklin, Stanley,Arthur Levi, Hazel and Mary .Mom thinks Delancey had a half brother Walley too. I'd like to keep in touch just in case we find some common ties . Mary Ann

John, I am a cousin from Oregon. George was my g.grandfather. Esther was my grandma. Her father George claimed to have been born at sea on the way over from England? He landed in Canada and was there until he was a teenager at which time he ran away to the U.S. and went to work for the railroad. He refused to talk about any family and Esther never met any. I have not been able to find anything on him. There were alot of Home children brought here about that time and I'm wondering if he was one of them.

My ancestors were also from Athens, Ontario. My GGGrandfather was Thomas Compo, b.April,1840 in Ontario. His wife was Elizabeth, b.July 1845. Their children were Henrietta, 1865. William, 1868. Harriet, 1870. Helen, 1871. Charles, 1876. Robert, 1885. My GGrandfather was Charles. I know he was born in Athens, Ontario, but I don't know for certain about the rest of the family. I was so happy to read your message! I didn't think I waould ever find anything on the Compo family! My great grandmother was Charlotte Angeline Compo (1888 - 1958 b. Athens, Ontario, Canada) - older sister of Delancy D. Compo. I found some geneology information of my grandmother's after she had passed away, so I wasn't able to ask any questions. It said that Levi's father was Isaac Compo, but no other information. I also have no information about Elizabeth Fitzpatrick. I am looking for information about my great grandmother's family. My great grandmother was Charlotte Angeline Compo (1888 - 1958). She was born in Athens, Ontario, Canada. Her parents were Levi Compo from Westport, Canada and Elizabeth Fitzpatrick (1859 - 1933) (presumeably from Ireland). I am wondering if anyone might have information on either of their parents. Looking for family that might fall into this catagory. Clara Bell Compo from Upstate New York, Lowville area. She married George Lawrence. They had several children, Sadie, Theresa, Ester, Georgina, Rita, Richard, George
