Looking for confirmation of parents of Basil Compton, born 8/2/1776 in Spartanburgh Co., South Carolina. He may have been the eldest son of Thomas Compton and Rachel Smith. Basil married a woman named Sarah (last name possibly Winn). They moved to Giles Co., Tennessee (near Lynnville) in 1820. They had 11 children: Isaac (b. 1797), Nancy (b. 1798), Zopher S. (b. 1800), Rachel (b. 1803), Jasper (b. 1805), Eber (b. 1807), Lettice (b. 1809), Jamima (b. 1810?), Thomas C. (b. c. 1816), John B. (b. c. 1817), and Sarah (b. 1818). Would appreciate any information on Basil's ancestry (parents, grandparents, etc...).
