Surnames: COMPTON COUNTON COWNDEN
Does anyone trace their Compton ancestors back to Carham Hall in Northumberland England in the 1700's or further to Berwick-upon-Tweed in 1600's? If so I have a lot of information on our Compton line that I can share.
This Compton line appears to have changed the spelling from Cownden to Counton before Compton in the 1600's so these spellings may also be relevant.
