I have found Esther Comrie in the 1871 and 1881 Scottish censuses.
In 1871, Esther Comrie, aged 5, scholar, born Dunbar, Haddington, was boarding with the Watt family at Dunbar.
In 1881 Esther Comrie, aged 14, scholar, born Stockbridge, Edinburgh, was boarding with the Aitken family at Paisley Road, Govan, Lanark.
Esther Comrie emigrated from London to Maryborough, Queensland, Australia on the "Bulimba" in 1885.
When Esther married Robert Winter at Maryborough in 1891, she indicated that her parents were John Comrie, merchant, and Ellen White.
However, when I obtained Esther's birth certificate, she was registered as Esther White, daughter of Ellen, father not named, born at 6 Bedford St, Edinburgh.
Esther's mother was named Helen White on her death certificate.
If anyone has any information about these people, I would be interested to hear about it.
