Hi Sue

How is everything going.

Thanks, Yes I have this information and I have actually found the grave site and have visited the funeral Director (yes they are still around) but they do not have documentation for this person. I am trying to establish if this is indeed my great grandfather by trying to find out the next of kin e.g his wife name. Apparently he died in kingseat hospital and you can't access the records. I am going to try and get his death certificate and hopefully it will have a next of kin on it.

Kind Regards

Shirley

Hi Keryn

Nice to hear from you. It is amazing how many descendants there are around the world butI suppose considering the size of the families they had you can see why. I am related through David and Eliza's son Stephen whose daughter Myrtle Le Comte was my grandmother (I never met her she died young (in her 40's)well before I was born. I wonder if you know why did Louisa Tubb and David Le Comte go separate ways. We are having problems at the moment trying to trace where Stephen (my great grandfather) is buried here in New Zealand we have been through church records etc but keep coming up empty handed so sometimes it can be very frustrating. Anyway thanks for the message.

Keep in touch
Shirley
Hi Shirley and Sue ... Keryn here (Sue cyber-knows me) - I am descended from David LeComte when he was plain old David Comte and married to Louisa Tubb. As Sue said, there are lots of us tracing what I thought was going to be an impossible line when my grandmother said, "... and my mother was Lily Comte" ... and nobody really knew if it was Comte or LeComte ... and they swore it was French. Who knew it was plain, old Eastenders! Good on 'em! Incidentally ... even though my ancestor David (Le)Comte came to Australia - I am from his line with Louisa Tubb, so mine stayed there and it was actually my grandmother, Bessie Lynch, who came here ... and she NEVER knew there were already Comte descendants here. Sue, did we get any extra information here ... how are you and Richard going with your research? Big Comte Cousin hugs to you both!
Keryn.

Hi Sue

Thanks for your reply. My mother has come to my place on holiday and has brought all her information so we will be spending the weekend putting all our information on the genereunited site family tree. I would love any information you are able to send to my email. Is there any information that you need? I hope you and Richard have good luck finding more family. I am keeping up the English side as I am married to a Yorkshireman.

all the best
Shirley

Hi Shirley.
I'm doing fairly well here in the UK finding some of the Comte descendants who stayed behind with Henry and Ann (Booth), but I think the survival rate wasn't as high as in Australia and NZ!!
I have some information prior to Henry and Ann (not much so far, but Richard and I are on the case). If you are happy for me to do so, I'll send it to your home e.mail. Don't worry, there are plenty of us looking!!!!!
Sue.

Hi Sue

Thanks for your message. I'm starting to realise how big this family is. Mind you my grandmother (Myrtle Le Comte) had 9 children (one deceased when born) and Myrtle is one of 13 children.
I am searching for information on Henry Comte who married Ann Booth. They are the parents of David Le Comte who married Eliza Burke. Eliza was deported to Australia as a convict and married David in Australia. They eventually moved to New Zealand and settled in Akaroa, New Zealand. I would appreciate any information on Henry and Ann, their occupations, any information on their parents. I am a descendant of David Le Comte.

Shirley Jones
Whakatane, New Zealand

I have been researching for quite a while and have hit a brick wall regarding the Le Comte family. I am a descendant of David Le Comte and Eliza Burke. Their son Stephen married Susan Bishnell and had my grandmother Myrtle Le Comte. I would appreciate any information you have. There is a lot of conflicting information. Do you know David's parents names and any information that goes further back in England. I would love to get copies of births certifcates etc.

Thanks
Shirley Jones

Hi there.
my name is Sue Comte and I'm also tracing the Comte family tree.
I cannot say for sure that Charles Comte b. 1828/29 is directly related to my side, as I've yet to confirm the link. What I can say is that the Comte's I do know about were also born in London around the same area (I just have to try and find the connection).
I do have some info on your Charles. IF I have the right person, he married Mary Ann Whittaker on 31st August 1852. His father was Edward Comte.
I have a lot more info on other Comte's, but they may not be the correct one's. Perhaps we should swap more details......
Get back to me if you are interested.
Sue.

Great to hear from you! We are related! I have been able to get a little more information on Henri and Marie's (Simon) Comte's children from a new relative source this summer. When the Crowley connection came up and I was really intrigued because as a child I went to Gesu grade school with a Connie Crowley and was told she was a relative but had no clue how. Yes, I would love it if you could get the address of our Colorado Crowley relative. I have very little on that branch.
I also have very little on your branch. Anything you can send would be appreciated.

To date I have over 475 people on the Comte side going back to Berne Switzerland 1700's. I will be happy to send the information to you if you would like it.

You can reach me directly at kellerlkck@fuse.net

Look forward to hearing from you.

Carol Comte Keller

Carol:
I am the nephew of Mary Louise Cavalier Comte (Aunt Mame). She married Henry Comte on 30 Nov. 1905 in Oak Harbor, Ohio. At the time of her death in 1945, they lived on Parker Ave. in Toledo Ohio. I have spent many days at their home and knew them well. I do not have much information on the Comte Genealogy but have the Cavalier family going back to 1550 in France. One of their grand children ( surname Crowley) who lives in Colorado did some research on the Comte ancestry. I don't know how extensive it is. If you are interested, I will research his address and send it to you. Hope to hear from you.

Paul E.
