I see that a Charles E. Conatser who was born in 1925 died in 1987 in Bowie County, TX. Is this your person? If so, you could probably find out a lot about him by ordering his application for a Social Security card. I could possiblh help you. I am related to the Conatsers and have a history on them for over 400 years.

Just starting my search with very little info. as my mother never married my father, Charles E Conatser, who passed away in 1987. I was told of this years ago but was asked not to pursue. The questions remain I know I have a half sister but again No more information. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi -- There are quite a few Conatsers in Montana -- have been for over 100 years.

Since our understanding is that the name is a unique name, we might be related. I would be glad to find out more about some of you and your families.

Please don't hesitate to introduce yourselves, especially if you know we are indeed related.

As for me, my Grandmother is Ethel Mae (Conatser) Wall, her parents were William Jasper and Mercedes Hibbett. Ethel grew up on the Conatser ranch near Glasgow, Montana. Her uncle was a well-known sheriff in Valley County.

James Jerry Gerald Conatser (parents Daniel Keith ( David) Conatser and Sarah Ann Garner) was born 16 March 1854 in TX. He died 6 April 111905 in White Oak, Franklin, AR.

James Jerry Gerald married Martha C. (Matt) Stockton on 6 June 1878 in Franklin Co, AR. Martha C. (Matt) (parents Richard Andrew Stockton and Sarah Ann Bugg) was born Abt 1860 in Altos, AR. She died in Taft, Kern Co, CA.

James Jerry Gerald Conatser and Martha C. (Matt) Stockton had the following children:

1. Amanda Lucetta ( Mandy) Conatser was born 2 August 1879 in Altus, Franklin Co, AR. She died 28 July 1957 in Taft, Kern Co, CA.

2. Grover Cleveland Conatser was born 15 Oct 1884 in AR. He died 9 Aug 1950 in San Luis Obispo, CA.

3. Anna Ella (Annie) Conatser was born 23 Sept 1881 in AR. She died 22 March 1947 in Orange Co, CA.

James Jerry Gerald married Sarah A Frisby on 8 Jan 1888 in Franklin Co, AR. Sarah A was born abt 1862 in AR.

James Jerry Gerald Conatser and Sarah A Frisby had the following children:

1. John Elliott Conatser was born 1 Nov 1888 in Franklin Co, AR. He died 27 Sept. 1964.

2. Charlie Conatser was born abt 1890 in AR.

3. Mary Bonnie Conatser was born abt 1891 in Franklin Co, AR. She died 1967 in Franklin Co, AR.

Goodall was my grandfather on my father's side. The spelling got changed from Conatser to Conatzer from the time they left TN and settled in OK.

I am looking for an accurate linage from Goodall back to George Christopher. Your information falls in with what I have. But I don't have any dates on birth just names.

My husband is a decendant of Lafayette Conatser, Goodells brother. Lafayette is grandfather of William Wallace Conatser's son William Riley Conatser and Mary Lee Sanders.

In my data, I am showing that Goodall is the son of William Conatser and Winny Ledbetter..........I have Wm's birthdate as 1837 and just a circa 1840 for Winny. My notes show they had 10 children: Louisa C., Mary, James, Goodall, George, Andrew, Hetta, Lafayette, Tennesse, and Rebecca Belle (09 Apr 1885-27 Sep 1945).
1880 Fentress County Census information for William Conatser. It is:
William Conatser, 43
Winny, 39
Louisa C., 18
Mary, 16
James, 15
Goodall, 13
George, 11
Andrew, 8
Hetta, 6
Layfayett, 4 (actual records)
Tennessee, 5/12
Then Wm Conatser, I show as the son of Andrew Conatser and Mary (Polly) Huckabee.........and believe Wm. and Mary had 12 children.

Nora, My gg-grandmother was named Nancy Ann Scytha Canatcher. She was born 30 Jan 1861 in Jefferson County, Tennessee, and married Thomas Martin Nelson 5 Aug 1883. Among other children, they had a daughter named Louisa (my great-grandmother, pronounced lou-eye-za). There were several Conatsers/Canatchers and other spellings in the Jefferson and Sevier County area of TN in that same time frame, but the spelling varied enough that they can be difficult to look for. If I come across any of your Conatsers while searching, I'll let you know.

The Stokes line as far as my paternal line is concerned do not fit in with my Conatser line.

About 4 or 5 generations back in my maternal line Mary Jane "Maria" Stokes is a greatgrandmother of mine. Had to list all that when I had my mtDNA done.

I recently found a file on the internet that I thought I'd share with you. Evidently Johan Georg Christoph Knortzer returned to Germany for a time in the early 1750's. If you want to view this file just go to my website at http://groups.msn.com/MyMothersFamily and scroll down the left side and click "Join now" and fill out the short form and then click the "sign in" button at the top of my page and sign in using your dot net passport. Then open the message that is second from the top and click the link at the bottom. That will open the file and you should be able to view it.

Not sure I can help you because I can't even find who my Martha Conatser, b. 1812 TN belongs to. I've been searching for her parents for the past decade. Somewhere in all my Conatser stuff I have some information on every Conatser I've ever run across.

I have a Daniel Andrew Conatser who was born about 1857 in Arkansas and died ? (date unknown) in Murphreesboro, Arkansas. He married Sarah E. ? about 1881. She was born about 1863 in Arkansas and died ? in Murphreesboro, Arkansas.

Their children (the ones that I have) are:

Dochia Conatser, born 1891 in Arkansas. She married ? Hoover

Mary E. Conatser, born 1893 in Arkansas

Martha Conatser

I've been looking for anything on my paternal greatgrandmother, Martha Conatser. I have seen her listed as being born in 1812 and 1815, but mostly in 1812 TN.

She was married to Uriah Nichols, b. 1817 TN and they had the following children, Mary Ann, Amanda, John, William, Josiah, Clarissa, Hugh, and Jackson. They moved to the White Oak Township area of Franklin Counth, AR. sometine after 1846, and Martha died there but don't have the date of death.

Hugh Watson Nichols is my paternal grandfather.

Would like to find which Conatser family Martha belongs to.
Any help appreciated. Thanks

This is most information I have ever found on John Nickolas who married Catherine Hainline. THANK YOU!

Do you have any inofrmation on Abraham's children? I have found him in the 1810 Wayne County, KY., 1830 Overton Co. Tn., and 1840 Morgan Co. Tn. census. I have not been able to find him in 1820.

In the 1810, he had one female 0-9 and an older female. There are no other child listed in the other census.

Did John Nickolas have no girls? There were 2 females listed in the 1810 Wayne county, Ky census for him 10-15.

We are looking for the parents of 2 specific females one married into the Finley family 1835 Overton Co. Tn. and we have not figured it out yet. We have found information that says the 2 are sisters and daughters of Abraham.

I would appreciate having your response.

My gr grandmother was Annie Canacher who married Mack Pryor. Their daughter, Martha, was born in Jamestown, Tenn in 1898. Do you know of this family? They were Cherokee (at least in part), and Martha always wore long dresses and mocassins up until her death in 1992. The family went from Tenn to Kentucky, and then to Ohio. Descendants of Andrew Conatser

Trying to find info on children of Andrew Conatser b. 1872-1874 d. 7-6-1857 in Harris nursing home Nashville, Tenn.

He is son of William Conatser and Winnie Ledbetter. Not sure if her name was Ledbetter or not. Some records list just Winnie.

He was divorced at time of his death. Believe he was married 2 times and had family living in Nashville.

Andrew is brother of Lafayette Conatser who is husbands Grandfather.

Amanda Lucetta Conatser married a John S. Williams on Dec 22, 1897 in AR. Her parents were Jerry G and Martha Unknown Conatser. He was born Ar and his folks came from TN. Would like to know if there is any family still in AR related to Amanda. This all the information I have on her.She was born 01 August 1879 in Franklin Co, AR and died in Kern Co, CA, 01 August 1957.She had several Children one of which is my husband's father John Vernon Williams. Looking any information on this family.
