There is even a picture of Felix Conde and Romana Saldana's daughter Severiana. you may go to My Family.Com then go to the Saldana Family. I think you can set up an account. If you cannot let me know and I will give you my password and user name. I hope you can get in because we really do have alot of family everywhere.

Emma

My Father first came to California in the early 1950's. His family is from Durango...my great grandfather was from CosalA, Sinaloa. Many Conde(s) in Sinaloa. First record I find of our name in Mexico is from the manifest of the Juan O~nate expedition from Mexico north to what is now Texas. This was in the late 1500's!! Check out this link:
http://garyfelix.tripod.com/~GaryFelix/index1.htm
Its a FANTASTIC source of information.

Also google:
Iriarte Conde, Francisco (1770-1832)
He was the first (?) governor of the state of Sinaloa. He was Conde from his Mother's side...

Re: Conde family from south Texas

Hello all,
this is the info I have:
My 4th grt-grandfather Jose Antonio Conde, came to Bexar around 1805-1808, originally from Reynosa Tamaulipas.
He is listed in the 1815 census of the San Juan Mission as age 30, his wife Monica Juarez, age 25 and at the time his son Felipe Conde age 4 ( this is where I descend from) and a daughter Ma. Antonia age 2. Antonio was the blacksmith of San Juan Mission.
They are listed later in 1830, in the 1830 census (citizens of Texas book)
this is the last time Antonio Conde is seen in the Texas records, in the 1850 census of San Antonio, my abuelo Felipe is listed along with his wife Paz de luna, and their children.
I though that pehaps his dad had perhaps passed away by this time.
Then I discovered Jose Antonio Conde widower of monica Juarez marrying for a second time in Matamoros, Tam. (pg. 38 Matamoros church marriages-SAGA 1995)
he is marrying on 26 Feb. 1838 Antonia de los Santos ( dgtr of Ylario de los Santos and Ma. Trinidad Cervantes-all from Bexar)
From this 2nd marriage I have found a felix Conde who was married to a Romana Saldana ( of Lino Saldana & Ma. de Jesus Cisneros)
their children I have so far:
i) Jose Lino Conde bpt. on 28 Nov 1870, in Matamoros
ii) Ma. Severiana bpt. on 27 Feb. 1872, Matamoros
iii)Ma. Saloma bpt. on 9 Jan. 1876 Matamoros
iv) Antonio - have 2 different dates for him: born 18 June, 1878 & bpt. on 29 Sept. 1878, in Matamoros.
Then I also have the date as born 14 Jan 1880 & bpt. on 19 Jan. 1880 in Matamoros.

Intersting to note that it seems his offspring took up the trade of Blacksmith, like the elder Jose Antonio Conde, who according to some sources, may have been the artisan that made the iron works, and crosses on the San Juan 7 Espada missions in San Antonio ( Jacinto Quirarte & Mardith Schueth)

Hi. I'm researching the Rev. Samuel Lee Conde. Born in what is now Hawaii, lived in Rockford, IL, Troy, PA, and East Cleveland, OH. Specifically, I'm interested in the typewriter he developed and marketed in the 1890s, and his related inventions.

I'd like to get in touch with any of his descendants who might be able to provide more information about him or his inventions, even if it's just a photograph.

Thanks in advance.

~Alan
Our family line is still in St Louis, Mo. Feel free to look at my tree. The Sanguinet line is really fascinating. Let me know if you have any questions?
Look forward to hearing from you.

From the census record you can see that there were several Francisco Conde born in the early 1900 in Puerto Rico. Do you have more information do you know his parents name or his second surname? Did he live there all his life? Was he also born in Santurce? Where did he die?

Delphos Republican, Ottawa County, Kansas, July 29, 1948, page 1:
CHLOE E. COURTNEY
Chloe E. Conde, daughter of Ellsworth and Sadie Conde, was born February 4, 1887 north of Glasco, Kansas, and departed this life at her home in Delphos on July 21, 1943 at the age of 61 years, 5 months and 17 days.
All her life was spent in and around Delphos. She was united in marriage to Joseph Courtney on February 16, 1904 at Minneapolis, Kansas. To this union two children were born. She leaves her husband, one son, Howard of Glasco, Kansas, and a daughter, Mrs. Neva Keener of Delphos, Kansas; a grandson, Donald Keener who is serving in the Navy at Bainbridge, Maryland. Donald came home two weeks ago to see his grandmother. His home coming did her so much good and for a time she seemed much improved.
But after his return to his base she soon succumbed to her illness. Her father, mother and a sister preceded her in death. She also leaves to mourn her passing, one sister, Mrs. Myrtle Smith of Wichita, Kansas; three brothers, Lee Conde of Denver, Colorado; Roy Conde of Los Angeles, California; and Benny Conde, and other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted from the Delphos Methodist church Friday morning at 10:00. Rev. H.G. Feldmann was the officiating clergyman. Music was furnished by Mrs. Lael Gilbert, Misses Betty and Ruth Feldmann and Mrs. M.P. Ballard with Mrs. Willard Casey as accompanist. Songs were "Rock of Ages" and "Asleep in Jesus" by the quartet and a solo "I Have Done My Work" by Mrs. Ballard.
Flowerbearers were Mrs. Johnny Keener and Mrs. Richard King.
Pallbearers were Richard King, Blake ferris, Johnny Keener, Waltner Santner, Clifford Chancy and Hal Pilcher. Burial was in the family plot at the Delphos cemetery.

Re: distinguishing the French from all other "Conde's"

I simply disagree. I am Conde from Puerto Rico but our roots are traced back to France. What should be noted is that we are all from the same origins but the name itself morphed a little bit especially when entering other non-francophone countries where the accent mark was automatically cut off. This is very common to have happened. A little over 30% of Puerto Ricans can trace their ancestry to Corsica (yes a French Island) which explains why there are so many French and Italian Surnames in Puerto Rico.
