Well I saw the original document today on John Cunliffe of Charles City County, Virginia, and it is spelled Cunliffe. Both a marriage for John Cunliffe, Aug 7, 1660, and a death for a John Cunliffe, Mar 14, 1660, are on the same page. The only thing that makes sense is that John Cunliffe the son was married on Aug 7 after his father Johnn Cunliffe the father/Uncle/cousin, died on Mar 7. The marriage entry states "John Cunliffe & Johan Mountain Aug 7" with the "h" in Johan crossed out or smudged.

Couldn't find the original of Richard Cundiff Feb 11, 1667 although I did look.
