Emma Hill Condra

Looking for information on Emma Hill Condra, married to Mitchell Condra. In 1943 when she died her home residence was listed as Sequatchie, Marion County, TN. Her mother, Mary Trimmier Hill was my aunt. In 1930 census she is listed as living with her mother, Mary, uncle George Trimmier, and brothers Carl and John in Bridgeport, Jackson County, Alabama. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Re: John Condra's daughter

I am also now researching a Mitchell Condra from Sequatchie County, TN. For years my family did not know that we had four additional half-aunts and uncles. They were children from my grandfather's first marriage. I have found that a Mary Trimmier married Jessie Larkin Hill and they had a daughter named Emma. She married Mitchell Condra. Unfortunately Emma died in 1943 from TB. Do any of these names sound familiar to you. I have Emma in 1930 living with her widowed mother and two brothers in Bridgeport, AL. On Emma's death certificate it states that when she died her home residence was in Sequatchie, Marion County, TN. She actually died though while a patient at the TB clinic named Pine Breeze in Chattanooga. I can't find out if she had any children though. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Gary,
Been awhile since I've done much Condra research. Guess I was dicouraged from lack of info. Anyway, my husbands grandparents came from Drogheda, Louth, Ire. Thomas Condra married Bridget Mooney in England then came in 1923 to NY, then Michigan. He was in Merchant marines and jumped ship when in NY. Parents are Michael Condra and Margaret Halligan. Siblings were Lillie, George, Michael, Margaret, Kathleen, Agnes, Jimmie(Francis). Believe our lines connect.
Connie

Hope your still around. I went to the Isle and began the family research direction to the Isle of Man because I went there. I had found documentation that made me go there. Locals told me that Condra (current spelling) was an indigenous tribal celtic name. Check Kneens Celtic names. Condra is not Irish, but original Manx. The resettlement of Scots and Manx into Northern Ireland around 1609 or so, could have been the reason Manx Condr....s went to Ireland. Man at that time was a barren Island with no means for a family to survive. Going to Northern Ireland would seem to be a big step of the time. More later Rawleigh Condra Fjeld

Still working on information 1800 and below. Found good records this last year but have been busy. Will be updating the document soon. Beware of information that shows middle initials for our early family members. I have a lot of original documentation. None have middle initials. This kind of info just confuses new people trying to learn about our family. Keep in touch. On the Go again. Rawleigh Condra Fjeld.

It looks like you are mistaken in your post of Jan 2008 in which you stated that William Henry Hackworth born 1840 was the son of Augustine Austin born 1746. This would be a near impossibility for a 94 yr old to father a son. William Henry's parents were Austin Jr born 1793 and Elizabeth Rigney Hackworth and Austin Jr's parents were Augustine Austin born 1746-7 and Ruth Keeth Hackworth. This is well documented and the info on the net that has Austin Sr/Augustine born 1746 marrying Elizabeth Rigney is wrong!! I am aware of how this error occurred. Please everybody, change your records to reflect the correct spouses for Augustine and Austin. Thanks Shirley

Betty, I am Wilma McMahel Condra's granddaughter. I have recently copied some very old family photos that belonged to my grandparents. I have a very young Valteena & Lewis, along with three pictures w/o any names on the back, that I would like to e-mail to you, to see if anyone there could ID them. Two of the pictures are Civil War era tintypes, one of a little boy (I think it is Soloman Vandiver as a child) and the other is a young man with a mustache (I think he is a young William Albert McMahel). Thanks Leigh Hopper

I am 33 years old female born at Chula Vista Bay General Hospital in San Diego in 1972 (as stated on my birth certificate) prior to adoption. I have been trying to find my bibological father by name, According to my adoption papers. His name was pronounced George Conrad but the middle initial was either B or D (not quite clear).

It was indicated that he was originially from Alamaba serving the U.S Navy probably within either submarine or ship fleet and went to San Diego, California in probablity which explain why he met my mother, Mary Louise (Blackwell) before marraige.
