I am related to Manning Conkey of Steuben, Indiana. His brother, George was my great grandfather, and George's son Leonard was my grandfather. I will be happy to answer any questions you might have. If my memory is right there were 3 Mannings: Georges brother, Manning, his son Manning and George named one of his sons Manning. I will have to look it up. The first Manning's wife was Sarah Cure. He was killed in the Civil War in 1864 and so was his son.
Cindi - I am the Great-Great Grandson of Jane Haughey Eagle, whom I believe was likely the sister of Elizabeth. As a child in Wichita Kansas I remember going to a Haughey-Wycoff reunion in Wichita Kansas. I have home movies of "Uncle Jacob" Wycoff holding the long knife over the big watermellon!
Also, I have a hand written letter from John W. Eagle to his Grandmother Jane Haughey Eagle in 1898(she died in 1899) - regarding the Spanish American War! Are you sure his father, Robert Franklin Eagle, died in 1900? I thought I found him living with John W. in the 1910 Census, in San Francisco??
My mother was Vivian Eagle, daughter of Cyrus Pearl, son of John Worth, who was a brother of Robert Franklin Eagle!! Where do you fit in? Would you like to exchange information?
Jo Eagle Anderson, M.D. drjea@myclearwave.net

Contact the Wayne County Public Library in Wooster, Ohio. They have a website, the genealogy department there has an email. They have a list of all the sextons for the cemeteries. The one for the Krupps cemetery in Milton township may have a record for Elizabeth's burial.

I do not know who Jonas Conkey's parents are. The parents of Jonas' wife Mary Fuller are Loring Fuller and Ophilia. Jonas' parents must have emigrated from New York State to Ohio in the early 1800s.

His daughter Clara married John Huff and they lived in Medina County, Ohio. Their daughters were Marie and Hazel who married Jay Rogers. Marie Gertrude married Peter Daso living in Medina County, Ohio. Their children were Robert and Donald. They might have had other children after the 1930 Census.

What is your e-mail address?

My e-mail address is soupuno@aol.com
I could e-mail you some info on the Conkey family.

Allan Campbell
I'm sorry I don't have anything regarding Sarah Latson for you, but I wonder if you might have any more information about Manning? Were Manning's parents Manning and Sarah (Cure) Conkey?

I keep coming across different Conkeys with the same names - George and Manning, in particular - and think there must be a connection there.

You may have seen these already, but thought I would put them out there in case you haven't:

http://www.rootsweb.com/~insteube/obits/view/conkey-sarah.tx...

http://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=vmeachu...

I'm looking for information on George V.
Rosina CONKEY POWERS KING

I am looking for information about Rosina CONKEY (born ABT 1842 in Ohio), and Charles C. POWERS (born ABT 1838 in either Ohio or Michigan), parents to Emily (possibly Emma), who was born ABT 1863 in Michigan. I think they may have had an older son as well, but am not certain.

The 1860 US Census lists a Charles C. and Rosina J. POWERS residing in Van Buren County, Michigan.

The 1870 Census shows Rosina living in Berrien County with daughter Emily, aged 7, and what I believe to be her brother, Leonard CONKEY (the Census lists him as “Lemuel”), age 19.

I found a reference on another Ancestry.com message board to an 1882 marriage between Rosina CONKEY POWERS (b. Ohio) and Vernon KING (b. NY):

“The present wife of our subject, whom he married in 1882, was Mrs. Rosina E. Powers. She was born in Ohio, and is the daughter of George and Anney Conkey.”

It appears that at one time Rosina ran a boarding house and one of the boarders was Vernon KING.

I’m hoping someone recognizes a few of these folks and can verify (or add to!) some of this information.
I'm trying to determine the death date of Elizabeth. She was born to Robert Haughey and Hannah Wyckoff in Island Creek Twp., Jefferson Co., OH 19 Mar 1819. She married Ezekiel Conkey, originally of Pelham, MA on 25 Oct 1841in Wayne Co., OH. She's in the census of Guilford Twp., Medina Co., OH from 1850-1870 and in Milton Twp., Wayne Co., OH in 1880.

Her son Levi lived with her through 1880 and she's not with him in 1900. Her son Robert F. moved to Northwest Twp., Williams Co., OH by 1870. Her parents and many siblings moved to Williams Co., Steuben and Dekalb Co., IN. She visited there in 1888. She's not buried with her husband in Milton Twp. or has no stone. This has been a brick wall for many years. I'd greatly appreciate any assistance.

I will try to locate the document I am referring to. I believe it was a roll card. An enrollment card to one of the "five civilized tribes." I will reply again if I can find it. Also I will keep the name in mind (it already stuck out and has been in my mind before reading your post because it was unusual) as I search for my Nellie Blanche Huff (Hooker) (Craddock) born ~1893 Georgia. Anyone heard of her? A blue eyed Indian?
