My great grandfather was Dewitt Conklin. He married my great grandmother Ruth A Ett of Patterson, Putnam NY. I am also having a hard time trying to find his parents as when I search it is a dead end. There were 5 children, My grandmother Minnie E Conklin, Clarence, Edward, Arthur, and Gordon. However, Dewitt died some time before 1898 as my grandmother remarried Charles Davis of the same area. My grandmother married Thomas J Wood, another dead end at this time. They had 2 daughters,Dorothea who died at 16 from pernicious anemia and my mother Ruth. In fact her father died when she was 9, her sister died when she was 10 and her mother died when she was 11yrs. Which left her and orphan. If this fits in anywhere for you, please let me know as I too have other information.

I'm sorry I haven't had time to reply. You might find interest in the Abraham Conklin line. You might also like the Charleston, and Jones lines. My James Conklin (1820) had a sister that lived in Port Jervis. Part of that line can be found in Sullivan/Delaware counties. The older parts of the line can be found in Poughkeepsie, and Connecticut.Stay in touch. annienloey@optonline.net annie

Help with Conklin name

Hello and HELP!!
I am fairly new to this and I have been trying to find out any information about my family for several year's. Problem is, my father (living) refuses to give me any information about ANYTHING that can help with the family. All the information I have is that my father and his family, Conklin, are from Walden, New York. His name is Harold (living in Delaware)I am only certain of 5 sibiling's: sister's Grance, Frannie (deceased / South or North Carolina), Thelma (deceased / New York) and Evie (deceased / New York) (spell?) and a brother Frank (not sure if living or deceased). I beleive my grandmother's name was Claire and my grandfather's name was Frank. These names are from memory and I am not certain for sure. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Rick

Am researching Frank Conklin. Frank's possible wife was a Charlotte?. We know Frank had a son Ernest Ishmeal Conklin married to Elizabeth Robison. Ernest had 2 half siblings, a Stella and Albert. They were from Chatauqua, Montgomery counties. From other posts am thinking that your Albert may be ERnest's half bro. Does name Stella ring a bell to you?

This is a shot in dark... I have a Frank Conklin married Charlotte? I know one son was Earnest/ Ernest either J or Eshmeal Conklin, this family lived in Montgomery Co., Coffeyville, or Peru, I read somewhere in a post that a Frank conklin had run off left a small daughter with some family after his wife had run off few years before. I can't find any of the siblings etc. Does any of this ring a bell with your Frank? Thanks so much.

I'm hoping that someone here can help me with my NJ Conklin research. My g-g-grandfather was John Conklin, born abt 1818 in NJ. He married a woman named Matilda (?) who was born in Nova Scotia abt 1826. Their children were Alonzo, born abt 1847 in VA, Spencer, born abt 1849 in VA, Petrona, born abt 1851 in NC and Hester Ann, born in 1855 in NC. My roots trace back to Hester who married George Collins. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Lyon
Death date: 08 Dec 1892
Death place: Greenbush, Clinton, Michigan
Gender: Female
Age at death: 35 years 8 months 26 days
Estimated birth year: 1857
Birthplace: York State
Marital status: Married
Father's name: John Conklin
Mother's name: Elizabeth Conklin
Occupation: Housekeeper
Film number: 2363830
Digital GS number: 4209096
Image number: 726
Reference number: p 198 rn 6127
Collection: Michigan Deaths 1867-1897

Yes, it says John and Elizabeth Conklin, but all the John and Elizabeth Conklins I've found on the census are pretty well established with children. I One would think finding this family in the 1860 census wouldn't be too difficult.

I don't know if this is the Wilson-Conklin marriage that you seek, but I found the record for the marriage of a Phebe Ann Conklin (probably the daughter of Elias and Mary Ann Conklin)and an Alexander Wilson. They were married on 7 September 1853 by the Rev. James Scott, who was at the First Reformed Church in Newark, New Jersey. The record may be found in Book D, Page 118, document #1594 of the Essex County, New Jersey marriages.

Hope this helps.

Mom has Alzheimer disease in the final stage and is more than a handful. She just turned 87 on the 25th of August. You must remember the Truck/Camper that dad had on the back of his Ford truck, since they never owned a regular camper. Any way wanted to let you know my email address is zaota@comcast.net.
Hi Barbara,
I am a direct descendent of Mathew Conklin and Phebe Jane Mohawk. They were my 5th great grandparents. They are buried in Pine Meadow Lake which is located in Harrimon State Park in Rockland County, NY. I actually visited the lake a couple of years ago. I took pictures of the lake. Pine Meadow Lake was once home to the Conklin family. Then the Palisades Park Commision forced the sales of the land. The Conklin family was forced off the property. There was a damn built that is where Pine Meadow Lake was formed. The Conklin family burial ground is located under Pine Meadow Lake. I have in my records that Phebe died in 1864 and Mathew in 1870. I have Mathew on a 1870 NY FEDERAL CENSUS. My email address is adolfhartmann@yahoo.com. Thanks Joe

My Aunt Shirley Robb who did all the research and talked to her cousins wrote:
The History of Livingston Co. states Margaret and Bridget live with James until they married. Abstracts of Matrimonial and Baptisms by Fr. O'Kelly lists the marriage William Rafferty and Bridget Conklin 23 March 1845. James Conklin and Bridget Bennett witness. Under baptisms William Rafferty and wife Bridget Conklin have Mary baptized 13 Feb 1846, witnesses Patrick Conklin and Ellen Barnes. Later the same book states " William Rafferty and Bridget Scullion married 21 Jan 1849 then At St. Augustine's Cementary has marker:
Bridget, wife of William Rafferty died 26 January, 1849 (now realize that is Bridget Scullion Rafferty) If you would like to send the list to my email, I would appreciate it. sceladilla@tampabay.rr.com
