Her mother is Mariah Harrell Conoly. She is also my ggggrandmother and I have been researching my tree also. Mariah remarried a Fulgum or Fulghum and I lost her after 1860, she may have returned to Duplin County or remained in Wayne I don't know. Grandmother Cannizer also had a brother John that I have been unable to find any info on... you are welcome to view my tree, dhona

Neil, are any of your Connelleys from up around the Washington area. Around 1910. I'm looking for a Charles who was in the area at that time. He was from Virginia, as was his parents. Birth date about 1884 if the census was right about his age. According to post cards and letters found in an old trunk, he traveled to the Sacremento, California area and had family or friends in the Portland Oregon area. He had spent some time in the Toppenish/Zillah, Wa ara between 1909 and 1911. Knew the Mitchell's, Beeks, Burnett's, Tuttle's and Stump's. Could be my grandfather

My grandfather was Henry Therodore Connelley
He was born in 1865, in Arkansas. There is a Dr. Connelley in Little Rock that has family bibles, etc. back to Tennessee and Virginia.
There are not too many Connelley's around. Will share whatever I have. neal@socket.net

There is only about 260 Connelley families in the United States with our particular spelling, though sometimes some members would drop the last e and later go back to using it. William Connelley - enlisted at Summerville, July 20, 1861, on muster roll of April 11, 1862, W.L. Connelley -0 enlisted at Cole's Island, January 6, 1862, on muster roll of April 11, 1862 South Carolina 1st (HAGOOD'S)
Infantry Regiment Company H. http://reasearchonline.net/sccw/rosters/
1sthagh1.htm

From my Aunt's DAR records Henry Connelley born 1794 died 1879 married Mary Holland born 1796 died 1879 in Clarksville, Arkansas, one child to my knowledge William Henry Connelley born 1820 in Georgia, married Elizabeth Isabell Houser.

Mary was the 6th child of nine born to Reason (Rezin) Holland a veteran of War of Revolution born about 1760 in North Carolina and married 1784 to Mary born about 1760 in Montgomery County, MD. Reason died August 14, 1802 in Roane County Tennessee bur at Laurens, SC His wife Mary (no listed surname) died about 1803.

Would dearly love to know where Henry Connelley lived before his marriage to Mary Holland and where they lived afterwards and any information regarding their son William Henry Connelley.

Seems the family split at the time of the War Between the States, some on both sides and some lost track. There is a Doctor in Little Rock (Connelley) that has family records from Arkansas and back to Virginia in family bibles. I have not seen these but would love to do so.

My Grandfather was Henry Theodore Connelley was born in 1865 and died 1946

Connelley Questions

First question, is this name pronounced "co-kneel-E"?

In seaching our family tree, it was made quite clear that this is how the name is pronounced. (I thought it was "con-L-E", and then yelled at for thinking that! LOL)

I am searching for the family of Winifred Connelley(1892-1964). I was told that she had at least 11 siblings. I beleive that Winifred was born in Galway(June 15, 1892)and came to NY. She worked at the Muscoot Farms (as a housekeeper, I think), where she met John Towey, who also worked there.

If anyone has any information about her family, please contact me through this board or by email joaniee@email.com

Thank you!

Your reply indicates an additional location overlooked, Charleston, SC. Charles Sr related that he visited there frequently during school years. In fact, it appears likely that all states listed may have a bearing on the current search. The information I have is a generation removed, word-of-mouth and very scanty.

Finding family

I know little of my own background other than family names and localities. My father (Charles) was born in 1901 on Jones St. Oueens, NY. His mother's family name was Beck, father's: George Connelley. There was a brother, Herbert, and two sisters, Eloise and Jenny. Herbert and Charles worked the oil fields near Tulsa, OK, moving there from a famiy stint in Chicago. Later to San Antonio,TX, all in the Twenties era. Charles then moved with his mother to Riverside, CA,remaining there until each had died. The sisters apparently stayed in Tulsa. Other than the Tulsa possibility nothing is known of the whereabouts of Charles' siblings after the oil fields.

Connelley Surname

My sister Caren has been doing our tree and has found our family name dating back to 1700's.
She mentioned that there was a Connelley in civil war, buried in Massachuetts. We were all born in
Virginia. My father, Charles Henry Connelley, Jr., still lives in Virginia. His father, Charles Henry Connelley, Sr,
we think was the only child born from Annie McCarthy in Massachuetts. His father unknown.
