The processing of the estate of Haskins and Lucy in Illinois shows this. Also the Loudell Jones Handy letter shows this.

If your William H.

I come from the line of Conner's that remained in Stanton, Powell County KY then later moved East to Wolfe County, Breathitt County, and Letcher County. My GGG-Grandfather George W Conner was the Brother to William Conner ,Ezekiel Conner and Jackson Conner (Jackson later changed his name to Best). Their Father was Matthew Conner born 1791 in Clark County, KY and died about 1821. Their Mother was Elizabeth Best she was born about 1793 in Chuckatuck VA. The 1830 census for Estill County ,KY shows Elizabeth Conner as head of the family living with 6 male children and 2 daughters. William and Ezekiel died in 1852 due to fever. They were born in Estill County and died in Powell County. George Conner and his family lived on Furnace Mountain between Stanton and the Estill Furnace. There is a large red book consisting of 395 plus pages of the descendants of George Conner which is located at the Clark County Library in Winchester KY. There are still Conner's from these lines in Southeastern KY.

I don't recognize any of those names, and without any documentation, it is going to be difficult for you to go further. You'll need to start checking county and State records for everyone you can find. Then, you can try posting that information and see if anyone matches your data.

My gr-gr-gr-grandmother was a Conner, but I have no origin for her, only her marriage, children, and date of death/place of burial. That is all. I don't think it would be of any help to you, since I am stalled on her, too.

Thanks for the info. My cousin who has researched this found a dead end there in Kentucky. There was another Ezekiel Conner, but he died in Abilene, TX. But did William Conner have a wife named Amanda (Hoskins)? She had 2 sons, One was John H. Conner and the other was named William. My grandson was born in February, and his Name is Ezekiel Matthew Conner, the name is getting around. I havent been to Winchester is a couple of years. Do they still make that 8 ale there? Thanks. Bill

my email is: wlconner@hotmail.com

Hello: Well the line I am in begins in Powell Co. KY. William Conner is buried in Powell Co. KY, his wife is Amanda Hoskins, moved to Missouri after his death. She is buried in Callaway Co. Mo. Its a dead end before William Conner. We dont know where he came from. I beleive the line is from the Virginia/N. Carolina area. There is a Lacy Conner listed in Virginia, this may be the line I am from. My name is William Lacy Conner, and my grandfather had the same name. Hope you can shed some light, thanks Bill

Hi: Well it was explained to me that the Conner name also came from the German spelling, Kohner. When the immigrants arrived to America the immigration officials simply spelled what they heard, which was Conner or Kohner. My line is lost before William Conner, who lived in Kentucky. He died and is buried in Powell County Ky. Its finding the line before him. I suspect they were from the Virginia/N. Carolina area but there very little info. He married Amanda Hoskins, she moved to Missouri after his death, and is buried in Callaway Co. Missouri along with 2 sons, John H. and William Conner. Do you have any info on this line? Thanks Bill

A few years ago I bought a lot of vintage pictures of children on Ebay. Since I have started searching for my ancestors, I have realized how important pictures can be.

I have in my possesion a picture taken in 1944 of three children. Barbara, William and Sharon O'Conner. The girls have gigantic bows in their hair.

If anyone is related to these children, let me know and the picture is yours.

Sandra F

It's great to hear from someone else who is researching this Conner family. What is your connection?

I do not have a middle name for George Conner. The name Jackson is often attributed to Henry Conner, though I have never seen an actual source for this.
