Have learned that the gene Lebers Hereditary Optic Neuropathy 11778 is possibly transmitted through the mother's line.

I do have a great grandmother Emma Bole (born in Axmouth Devon on 25 Feb 1858; d: 23 Feb 1945)who married Charles Humphrey Connett on 25 October 1879.

Hi, I am looking for information on my great great grandmother Emma Connett and how and when she arrived in Australia.

Emma was born 27 Aug 1869 in Ide, Devon, parents were John Connett and Eliza Connett (nee Gibson).

Emma married John Birchall in Perth Aust. in 1891

Emma has siblings, Bessie, Louisa, James, Edith and Arthur.

Theodore was my grandfather. He was born September , 1901. He died in 1949. He married Theresa Franz. They had three children-- Walter, (deceased), Gloria and Lurene. He was born in Pawnee, Kansas and died in St. Paul, MN

His name is Isaac Milton Connett born 3 Aug 1843 in Athens, Athens, Ohio to Heathcote Pickett Connett and Anna Jane Clark
He married Rebecca Hand 15 Feb 1870 in Koscusko, Indiana I think that is a miss spelling of the word. They had 9 children 5 boys and 4 girls. I have all of their information Heathcote Pickett Connett is my great great grandfather his son Gardner Pickett Connett the oldest son is my great grandfather, through his youngest son John Heathcote Connett and my father John Heathcote Connett Jr. If you still need this information let me know and I will be glad to send you a ged com of all of my Connett information. Carlton, Berry, Michigan. She appears in the 1880 census living at home with her father, mother and siblings. She is listed living in Carlton, Berry , Michigan and is 15 years old with her birth in Michigan.

I have looked on the 1900 census and no Theodore is there. I have him listed from another source but can't find him on the census. I am a great granddaughter of John Wesley and Mary Louise. My grandfather was Theodore Connett. Would love to see what you have. Most of my stuff was lost in the change from pc to Mac. It's there, just can't find it. I had everything back to around 1700 (from other people's efforts) I've corresponded with Cory Moss quite a bit and a little with Bruce Slater but it's been a while.

Pam: I have not found any comfirmation that Ruth Connet Dunn's birth date was in 1760. I think that date might have come from her mother's death date. It seems more likely that Ruth was born about 1730, but I have not been able to find any documentation for either her birth or death dates. Apparently, several members of this family moved to what is now West Virginia, and that is perhaps where she died. The only informaton I have for Azariah Dunn is that he was a son of Jonathan and Ruth Dunn, that he was born in 1776 in Elizabeth, NJ, and that he married Margaret Boyer who died in 1830. I would like to see any other information that you have for him. My e-mail is jamesconnett@comcast.net.
If you are interested, I believe Ruth Connet's mother was Elizabeth Osborne (abt 1700-1760), daughter of Jeremiah and Abigail Ogden Osborne, but I need a little more proof to nail that down.

I have researched Azariah Connett Dunn and know that he died in West Feliciana Parish, LA in 1831. I have much more information on him if anyone is interested. I do have a document that proves a connection to a Samuel Dunn in Hamilton Co.,OH about 1815 but I don't know if Azariah ever lived in that state. Can you please tell me how you have placed Ruth Connett's birth in 1760 Westfield, NJ. I am still trying to find additional proof that Ruth and Jonathan Dunn were Azariah's parents. His 1813 marriage record claims a Jonathan and Ruth Dunn as his parents and his birthplace as NJ. Psulzer47@yahoo.com

James came from Gittisham,Devon England his father was Salter Connett the Connetts lived in Gittisham for generations. James and his brother Samuel fought in the Mammouth rebellion and Samuel was caught by the law and his head hung on London Bridge, James took the hint and escaped to America where he met Methitable Gardner daughter of Richard Gardner and so started the Connett's in America. James was a Farmer and owned quite a bit of land in Woburn, Massachusetts. He and Mehitable both disappear from history about the time that his father dies in England. He might have gone to England to claim his legacy and been caught but their younger children were raised by relatives in America.

I believe some of the Connetts were into mining either coal or elements. Their migration pattern seems to follow the mines will be interesting to find out. Let me know what you need for information or I can send you a ged come with all my Connett information on it. Yours in family Eileen

I have a picture of the church and the cemetery is right behind it. The Wolfe Plains cemetery yielded more grave markers then the Connett Cemetery did. One Connett Cemetery in Ohio is right outside of Athens Ohio. There are not very many marked graves for Connett's in it right now but the records might just be at the Connett Methodist church there. It is outside of the city of Athens but I think it is in the county of Athens. I have been there once on a very cold and rainy day. Also some of the Picketts and some more Connetts are buried in Wolfe Plains Cemetery which is right outside of Athens on a rise. Happy searching Eileen

It seems most likely to me that the Nicholas Connett who was born in Devon, England in 1781 is not the Nicholas Connett who we find in Kentucky and Ohio in the late 1790's and early 1800's. The Nicholas Connett who appears in Kentucky in 1796 with his brother William was certainly an adult by that time. He had already been in Virginia and Kentucky for at least a few years and it is my understanding that he had married his first wife in Virginia. He certainly would have been born by 1775 and more likely was born by 1760, making him old enough to have served in the British Army during part of the American Revolution. The Nicholas Connett born in England in 1781 had a brother named William who was born shortly after 1790 who could not have been the William Connett of Kentucky fame.
If we are to look for the parents of William and Nicholas who are the progenitors of part of the Connett clan in America, we need to look for a Connett parent who was most likely born around 1730, give or take a few years. The Nicholas Connett who married Jane Harner in England could very well have been a cousin to the Nicholas Connett of Kentucky and Ohio, but he clearly was not his father.

Your comment that Nicholas CONNETT, b. 3 Dec. 1781 was a Revolutionary War veteran, is persuasive. It would seem far more likely that it was his father, Nicholas CONNETT, who was the Revolutionary War veteran.

The information regarding this Nicholas Connett, born 03 Dec 1781 just does not add up to make him the same Nicholas Connett who appears in the mid 1790's with his brother William in Kentucky. If he was born in 1781, he could not possibly have been involved in the American Revolution. Cornwallis surrendered to Washington at Yorktown in 1781 and that was the last of the fighting of the War. The Treaty of Paris was signed two years later, when this Nicholas Connett would have been two years old. He also would have only been about 15 years old when the Nicholas Connett of Kentucky named William Bean as his attorney to handle the estate of his late brother. I do not know how or if the Nicholas Connett of Honiton, Devon, England is related to the Nicholas Connett of Kentucky, but the numbers I see in the family trees just do not add up to make them the same person.

Your data for William Lewis CONNETT seems to match mine, Linda. William Lewis CONNETT was listed as Farmer in the 1900 Census, but as Laborer in the 1870 Census. Lewis Jasper CONNETT is the only known child of Icyminda TURNBULL and William Lewis CONNETT.

I cannot tell you where the data came from, but I have Lewis Jasper CONNETT, born 13 Jan. 1869; married 1) Mary WATKINS, married 2) Nettie MOORE.
