Thomas and Margaret Connors, Waterford Ireland, earl 1800s

Thomas and Margaret Connors are my g-g-grandparents. I am unable to find any information about their lineage. I descend from their daughter, Honora Connors who married Thomas Kelleher. I found an entry in the MARC display records from the Waterford library that indicated that Thomad died 2 May 1883 in Castlequarter, Ballymacabry, Waterford. The death was reported by "Peggy, widow of the deceased". Peggy is probably Margaret. I also found an entry for Margaret's deaath 10 Feb 1892 in the same communitiy reported by Margaret, her neice. Death records do not indicate parents of the deceased. I am wondering if anyone has this lineage and has been able to locate additional information.

Cindy

There may be a connection.

My Catherine Conners married John Mountain in 1817 in Ireland but by 1840 they show up in the US census in Constable, Franklin Co., NY. Their oldest daughter, Mary Mountain, married Patrick Condon in Malone in 1843. The family appears to have left Franklin Co. before 1850.

Hi kahaley1 :)
I came across your post and it caught my attention. While both "Patrick" and "Connors" are very common Irish names, I thought you mind find it interesting to know that my great-grandfather was named Patrick Connors and he lived in NYC for a while before eventally ending up in New Jersey. I don't know much about him due to his death and strained family circumstances, but I do know that my grandmother was named Mary and that "Daniel" is a name that has stayed in our family. So, at the slim chance that there is a connection here I just thought I would share!

Patrick Connors of New York City

Hello,
I am trying to find a Patrick Connors of New York City. He was the half sibling to a Bridget Haley Grace and a Catherine Geary (do not know her maiden name). In Bridget Haley Grace's obit, it lists him as being a half brother. Bridget lists a Dennis Haley and Bridget Dorothy as her parents, so I can only assume that they had a mother in common, Bridget Dorothy. Bridget was born in County Limerick while her brother, Daniel Haley was born in County Cork and he lived in Peru, Indiana.
Any help would be great!

Hi Mary,
So glad to hear from you. I knew John Connors and his wife Elizabeth. They had 2 sons: Paul and Valentine. Val died a few years ago. His wife's name is Maureen. Paul is living with his wife Norma in Eustis, FL. John Connors was born Aug. 23, 1907 in Passage East, Waterford, Ireland, son of Valentine Connors and Sarah Phelan. Valentine Connors came to the U.S. in I think 1907. Sarah and his son John stayed in Ireland. From information I have John Connors married Elizabeth Stevens on Nov. 29, 1934 in Sacred Heart RC Church on 1253 Shakespeare Ave., Bronx, NY. 10452. John and Elizabeth lived at 1065 Woodycrest Ave., Bronx, NY. Sorry to have to tell you this, but John Connors died on Jan. 30, 1992 in East Islip, NY. He had Lung Cancer.
My e-mail is vickyward@comcast.net, if you want to get in touch more directly. I can give you more specific info to get in touch with John's son Paul and his wife Norma and other family info.

Could Thomas Organ be the brother of Mary Organ, Valentine and Mary's Mom? He would be their uncle if that is so.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Vicky

Hi, I just received your reply to my post. I am doing research on my family(Italian) and my husband's (irish). My husband is Eugene Ward, son of Joseph Ward and Helen O'Reilly. Helen O'Reilly's parents are John Joseph O'Reilly and Mary Margaret Connors. Mary Margaret Connors parents are John Connors and Mary Ann Organ. Mary Margaret was born on Feb. 12, 1882 in Passage East, Waterford, Ireland. Her brother was Valentine Connors, born April 18, 1884 and baptized April 20, 1884, also in Passage East, Waterford Ireland. Valentine Connors and Sarah Phelan or Whelan had a son John Connors born in Ireland on August 25, 1907. John and my husband's mother were 1st cousins. All of the family were originally from the Bronx. I know that Valentine lived with Mary and her family for awhile.

I do have some other names of other brothers and sisters of Valentine and Mary Connors.

Hope to hear back from you soon.

Vicky Chiesa Ward

Bridget ( Delia ) Connors and Patrick Farrell of Lowell, MA.

I am searching for information concerning Bridget ( a.k.a. Delia ) Connors, who married Patrick Farrell in 1895 in Lowell, MA. She was daughter of Thomas Connors and Bridget Meagher, and she was born ca. Mar., 1872/74 somewhere in Ireland. She immigrated in 1889 after the death of her father in Ireland, with her mother, Bridget Connors, and her sisters: Mary, Ellen, Sarah, and Ann Connors. Family tradition says they immigrated two at a time. Any information concerning this Connor family in Mass. and in Ireland would be very much appreciated.
Jean Mayo

Hi Vicky,
I am glad to say that the Names, Dates and Location ie Passage East, Waterford all matched mine. My research is to try and find out about my Grandfather Valentine, and his Son my Uncle John Joseph Connors. They lived with a family member at 315 E 118th Street, New York City, also at the house is a boarder Thomas Organ 34 years. On Sept. 12th 1918 Valentine joined the Militery, draft board no. 146 roll 1786804. Your Husband`s Grandmother was Mary, sister of Valentine, I do not know their siblings names. In the City Directories of Manhattan and Bronx Residents 1931 p.197 are listed Connors, John J 97 W 163, Connors Valentine 97 W 163, this information was passed on to me via Ancestry. I went to Ireland in May, but found the local priest at Passage East unhelpful, I did some research at the City Library which helped a great deal. My dearest wish is to locate John Joseph Connors, so I will carry on trying. I hope we can stay in touch as we both try to find our long lost relatives.
Kind Regards
Mary

I notice that you were asking for information regarding Valentine Connors who was born in Passage East Co. Waterford. He was born on the 18th April 1884 to Mary Anne Connors formerly Organ and John Connors. He married my Grandmother Sarah Phelan on the 9th June 1907 and they had a son John Joseph born in 1908. I have been trying to trace him as I found out that he left Ireland late 1907 and sailed from Cork to New York. Do you have any information about him and what became of him. I will help you all I can in your quest. I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Jack,

Thank you so much for connecting. It does indeed look like we are cousins. You grandfather would be my great granduncle, as Terrance Connors was my great grandfather. His son Paul E. Connors, Sr. was my grandfather; my father is Paul E. Connors, Jr.

Also, looks like your research interests are same as mine -- trying to push back beyond Michael & Bridget Connors in Ireland. I haven't been able find anything.

My mom and another cousin (in your generation) in Archbald, PA remember the name Neal or maybe Neale; and I found another family tree with her maiden name as Neale. But that's all of the evidence I have on her maiden name.

I really appreciate all of your info here, esp. your grandmother & your aunts and uncles.

I would give my left thumb for any photos you would like to share. We have nothing further back than the early 1900's in Archbald, PA.

Any chance you could connect me up with your cousin Michael?

I'm afraid that I am still learning genealogy, but my mother-in-law is very experienced with it. Even then, I'm going to need some "connections" to learn anything more about the Connors lineage in Ireland, it seems.

I'm new to this and trying to research my Connors ancestry.

My adopted father is Paul E. Connors, Jr. and my mother is Susan ( Connors ) Tuss ( Paul's sister ); their father was Paul E. Connors, Sr.; his father Terrance Connors; his father James Connors; and his father Michael Connors.

Michael was born abt 1817 or maybe 1820 in County Cork, Ireland. He married Bridget Neale ( or maybe Neal ).

Their children were Margaret, James, Michael, Bridget, and Stephen.

That's as far back as I can find anything on. I'd love any help anyone might have to get back further.

Also, if anyone is interested in the Connors family in the Scranton/Jessup/Archbald, Lackawanna County area of Pennsylvania, I'd love to share and compare. My father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great great grandfather all lived up in there.

Sean:
My name is Jack Connors and I live in Hamburg, NY a suburb of Buffalo.
It appears we are cousins. My grandfather, James, was Terrance's brother.
They lived at 507 Church St. in Jessup, PA.
From the information I have, it appears that Michael (Michl) was born in Ireland in 1820 (I did not have the information on Cork)and emmigrated to Wales before 1860. I did have his wife as Bridget but did not know her last name. I have her being born in Ireland in 1840.
Their children were James (b. 1860 Wales); Margaret (b. 1862 Wales); Mich (Michael)(b. 1869 Wales) and Bridget (b. 1871 Wales).
They emmigrated to America in 1871. I do not know where they entered the country.
I do have some copies of photos of the house on Church Stree with the entire family out front and a family portrait from 1897 when they lived on Lane Street/Winton Borough.
I will be happy to scan and send to you all that I have. Most of the information has been researched and collected by my cousin Michael Connors who lives in Gowanda, NY.

Our grandfather was James Connors (b. 7/13/1893 Jessup, PA.; d. 1/157 Buffalo, NY) who married Myrtle Van Dusen (b. 2/13/1892 Susquehanna, PA.; d. 3/20/56 Buffalo, NY)
Their children were:
Elizabeth b. 1/26/18 d. 5/15/89
Catherine b. 1/20/22 d. 1997?
John (my father) b. 7/9/23 d. 11/23/92
James (my cousin Michael's dad) b. 6/21/25 d. 6/20/96
Earl b. 8/11/26 d. 5/14/89
I hope this helps.

Jack
