TIPTON, Iowa -- Virginia Conway King, 86, Tipton, died Saturday, Sept. 25, 2004, at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City, after a sudden illness.
Services are at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton. The Rev. David Mears will officiate. Burial will be at Tipton Masonic Cemetery, Tipton.
Mrs. King was born on March 17, 1918, in rural Tipton, the daughter of Walter Joseph and Erma Clendenin Conway. She married Norman Milton King on Jan. 24, 1940, in Davenport. He preceded her in death on Jan. 26, 1979.
She graduated from Tipton High School in 1936.
She was a farmwife, homemaker and volunteer.
She was a member of Red Oak Presbyterian Church, where she was a clerk and Elder for Red Oak Church; Red Oak Kings Daughter; on the Senior Dining Board and site member; a Mount Zion Community worker; on the Cedar Manor Care Review Committee; she delivered meals on wheels; and belonged to numerous card clubs.
Survivors include two sons, Don King of Council Bluffs and Darold King and wife, Karen, of Tipton; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Maxine Moes of Lowden and Helen Mueller of Pasadena, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a grandchild, Kevin King; and a brother, Don Conway
