In a 3 pg bio of Charles BREWER, M.D. in the 26 pg pamphlet "Early Physicians of Vineland, N.J." pub. 1903 Vineland Historical and Antiquarian Society, is the following: "Leaving Utah in the fall of 1860 for a furlough, Dr. Brewer found his future wife at Fr. Riley. In January, 1861, he was married to Miss Maria Pendleton Cooke, second daughter of Gen. Philip St. George Cooke, U.S.A...." Brewer changed his allegiance, joined the Confederacy, and was present at his brother in law, J.E.B. STUART's death.
Am not personally interested in this family, but am sharing info on the doctors profiled in this pamphlet. Original of this pamphlet is in poss. of my husband's family. Am sending a photocopy to Vineland N.J Hist. Society and will check to see if LDS Fam. Hist. Library has a copy. If not, I'll send them a photocopy as well. Can mail photocopy of Brewer's pgs to anyone interested.
