Hey, My Grandfather Bernard Cookman comes from Yorkshire Originally, He had a brother called Walter Cookman (the only one that I remember, he had other brothers and sisters as well). I also know that many Cookmans that are in the states originate back to a yorkshire man who emigrated to the states as a pastor..my dad met one of his decendants in the states called John Cookman (who passed away not so long a go). I would love to piece my family history together but I dont know anything about my Cookman family as my grandfather never talks about them.

Who are the parents of your Mary Jane born 1883 L'Acadie? I have gone thru 100 years of church records for the area and into Montreal as well.
Cookman Family in Wiltshire

My families of interest are Cookman and Sutton. My Great-Great-Great Grandfather William Frederick Cookman was born about 1820 in Salisbury Wiltshire England his father was William Cookman I don't have his mothers name and he married Elizabeth Sutton born about 1823 in Salisbury Wiltshire England on 30th May 1841, at the Independent Chapel, Endless Street, Salisbury her parents were William Sutton and Mary Ann maiden name unknown. I don't know if they had brothers and sisters or not, also don't actual birth or death dates which I would love. Their sons were William born 1855, married Annie Sheppard in 1881, died 1932 in Tasmania Australia, Albert born 4th October 1858 married Emily Florence Ormsby in 1884, he is only brother to stay in England so there maybe descendents living out there. Charles Frederick born 5th August 1860 married Mary Clementina Stuart MacIlvean 2nd March 1887 in Melbourne Australia, died 2nd May 1901, he is my ancestor. The youngest son Walter George was born 1864, married Caroline Elizabeth McBean about 1901 in England and died 8th February 1927 in Melbourne Victoria Australia. What I am looking for is more information on William and Elizabeth, also any information on Alfred and his wife Emily. I would also like someone to lookup the 1891 census for information on the last 2 couples as I know where the other brothers were for that particular census they were all in Australia at the time.

Patricia

William Holmes Cookman was the son of William Wilberforce Cookman and grandson of George Grimston Cookman, (1800-1841, lost at sea,) first immigrant Cookman in my direct line. G.G.'s father was George Cookman, mayor of Kingston on Hull in Yorkshire. William Holmes was an architect, and designed at least one Pennsylvania train station. When he might have been floating around in the mists is a good mystery if indeed it was him.

Is there a date on the brochure?

Hello - This Cookman is not in my family tree so I have no data on him - pamphlett appears to go back to 1920'-1930's (
my guesswork from photo of boat on it ) so a man working as a manager would have to be say at least 20 yrs old therefore born no later then 1900-1910 and of course any time sooner - I can tell you I have come across William Cookmans as a common Cookman name but the Holmes middle name is unique at least to me.

John

In reply to your search, my surname is Cookman and my great, great grandfather was William, married to Isabella. His gravestone in Cobiconk says he died June 11, 1897. I believe he started out in Cavan, Ontario. His son was Christopher Cookman, I believe. Not sure if there's a connection but would be interested in hearing from you.
C.
