My grandmother was Fannie Cooksey,

She married Lawrence W. Cole PhD, psychologist and animal
researcher (see "Intelligence of Raccons, 1907 on World Racoon Web Page) and professor at University of Colorado.
They met in El Reno OK. I have never known any other Cookseys except Caroline Cooksey Skinner who lived in San Diego Where my brothers and I grew up. She was a freqent house guest. I don't remember much of her except she was an excellent seamstress, and quite fashionable. Grandmother Fannie was the worlds best granny. She kept an amazing white corn garden, and had the sourest apples, which made the best apple pies. We used to visit her in Boulder, via the Santa Fe Super Chief from San Diego. She was an art
historian, and I have some of her art books passed down from
my Aunt Eliabeth, Fannie's daughter, who lives in a extended
care facility near Greenport Long Island. She will be 99 yo
this Spring.

It would be fun to hear how the present day Cookeys are doing. There must be scores of cousins out there somewhere.
