My grandma was Hilda Irene Cooler
Her father was William "Richard" Cooler
His father and mother were Clarence Cooler and Catherine Bradham
I believe that Clarence was the son of Andrew Edward Cooler
Andrew Edward Cooler's death record says his father was Andrew Ishmael Cooler. It list his mother but it's hard to read. I believe it says Susin Walle (or Walk)

I'd love to swap information!

I am not sure how much I can help but my Grandmother's family were Coolers from Georgia.

My grandmother's name was Hilda Irene Cooler Dowd (Oct 28, 1933). Her father was Richard William Cooler (abt 1909) married to a Sula (Suller-alt. spelling) Ancel Paul Cooler.
I have a few more generations back if any of this sounds right. Most of the men were named Calvin and Andrew.

Click on the tree for Thermon Paul Dowd and then make Hilda Irene Cooler the primary individaul and follow her ancestry back. You'll see Alice Cooler in there.

I am looking for a Ellis P Cooler (b) abt 1905 SC married a Jessie G? (b) abt 1906 SC. They were married around 1925. Lived in McIntosh County, GA in 1930 next door to William & Pearlie Davis and kids, and a Rufus Davis and his wife Allie Mae. Allie Mae was a Cooler (maiden name) so I am trying to find out if they are family. I think they are since the Cooler/Davis clan of GA/Beaufort/Jasper Co. SC all married into each other. I am looking for information on Allie Mae Cooler. Born in SC around 1908, died in Beaufort County, SC in a nursing home I believe.
She married a Rufus Davis. I am searching for information on Rufus Davis and his brother William Davis both from GA, but thought if I could find info. on Allie Mae it would lead me to what I needed on them.
On the 1930 Census they are listed as living in Jones Township, McIntosh County, GA. However I know a year or a couple of years later they moved back to SC.

my cooler side has been difficult to find,my mother doesnt tell anything.i know that samuel lee cooler married laura zipperer they had audrey cooler and george washington cooler.lauras mother was hattie zipperer and father was levy zipperer.ive been told some weird things.i know samuel came from s.c. but i dont know where.i cant find any info on lauras side at all.

Ismael Washington Cooler is a great, great some four times or five times back according to our information. I don't know about a female Jesse Cooler, but this group of Cooler's are from Blufton and Beaufort area of SC. Kevin and Sara Mott of Charleston have the best records of who's who at this point. I'd suggest getting in touch with Kevin to see if he has details on your grandmother.

hello, i,m wondering if we're related or not, i really don't anything about my family, my grandmothers name was jesse cooler, she married a man named ellis cooler, i don't know who my grandfather is, jesse married a another man named robert spriggs, then edwards, my father was born with the name of spriggs, then ellis's mother, agnes cooler adopted him as a infant. there was three children before my father and they were all adopted by different family's, bolten, and so on. eishmeal cooler is supposed to be my grandfather, well 4 or 5 great, but anyway he is supposed to be the first cooler in this country, he landed in p.a. then came down to beaufort, were he died ,and then was buried at mayriver baptist church in bluffton s.c.if you are any relation please give any info you have - thanks, jenn

Rosa, I have an Uncle Jimmy, but don't think he's a grandfather yet. He's about 55 years old I think. None of the Coolers that I know of went to Florida. Ours started out in Georgia and my grandfather Lee Roy migrated north to Beaufort, SC with his father Dixie. Sorry I can't help you more.

I have a great Uncle Homer, he was my mother's father's brother. My grandfather was Lee Roy Cooler. My mother is still alive, but my grandfather passed away some time ago. I think Uncle Homer was born of Dixie Cooler and Grandma Posten (his second wife).

My grandfather was Homer Washington Cooler. I know he came from a large family and all of my family is in in Beaufort. He was born in 1911. I am sure interested in knowing any information that you happen to know.

Hi! I've been doing geneology on the Cooler's (trying too). My ggrandmother was a Cooler. She married Lester Holmes and they lived in Glynn Co., Ga. Her parents were Clarence Cooler and Catherine Bradham. Thats what was on her death certificate. I was told they were from Pooler, Ga. For some reason nobody says anything or knows nothing except the parents and 2 brothers Calvin & Richard and 1 sister Fannie and I believe her husband's name was Richard. Calvin married Cassie and they have a daughter. That's all info I have on the Cooler's I'm looking for. I have just about givin up on finding anything.

Thank you very much. I don't have anything on the Cooler's. There is a few of us trying to find anything we can on them. I have a few more names besides mt grandmother Alice Elizabeth Cooler. Her brothers are Calvin & Richard and her sisters are Fannie & Syndia. I have a picture of Granny Cooler (Alice's mother)Granny Holmes (Alice) aunt Fanny and uncle Calvin. They say Syndia married a man last name Saner and Fanny married a man first name Wesley. I was always told they lived in Pooler and their father died around 1915-1916. Clarence Cooler married Catherine Bradham. I don't have no date but it was probably the early 1900's.
Here is some of the children they had:
Richard Cooler
Fanny Cooler
Calvin Cooler
Alice Elizabeth Cooler married Lester Eugene Holmes.
They lived in Glynn Co., Ga.
Clarence died around 1916. Catherine also had a child after Clarence died by ? Carter. The child was Clarence Carter.

My father was Alvin N. Cooler, Sr. He was born and raised in Beaufort but moved to Bamberg, SC. His father was Walter Cooler who died in an auto accident in 1952 or 53. He had 11 brothers and sisters (some of which were half-brothers/sisters. It would be nice to hear from family I have never met. God Bless You!

First of all I am sorry for not getting back to you sooner, but I had a busy season. ( I own a limo service )

Was terribly overbooked with holidays and the overated Y2K drama.

Anyway as far as what I have leared since we talked last, my grandmother advised me that she has relatives in some part of georgia and that is where most of the COOLERS she knows of resides.

The problem is that she and my grandfather are for some reason very crytic and this part of family history may die with them.

I believe that they were born as slaves and or somewhat close to slaves and they dont want anyone to know what happened.

Kinda of sad though that I and the rest of my family on that side may never know the truth.

Anyway email me back and I will respond this time since everone is broke for right nowfrom the holidays and the media orchestrated Y2K.

Hi Alecia ,

My grandmother lives in Pensacola , Florida and is now a Mcneally.

They are getting up there in age and keep their history very secretive.

Dont ask me why because I dont know.

I think the problem is that they were born pretty close to slaves or something.

I set out at one point to try and find this missing link, but I think it will be very difficult because of how things were back then with masters and so forth ............and in saying that I believe the missing link lies and will die with them and possibly a caucasian family.

I dont believe that if I was to find out where they really came rom , that a caucasian family would recognize them as being blood.

Anyway if you would still like to talk there might be some relations on the wright side.........my grandmother was never a wright..........only cooler.

My mother's family comes from Beaufort, her father's name was Lee Roy Cooler - he had several brothers and sisters too. His father's name was Dixie Cooler. Dixie had two wives, I don't know their names, but I believe mother said that he came from Georgia...somewhere around Savannah. Hope this helps.
