Posted as a random act of genealogical kindness, no relation to me and no further info available from me, sorry. Probably not related to my CUNNEA line of Joliet. Very sweet that they included the info about his dog Chipper. The funeral home's 815 area code indicates that Mr. Coonan was returned to the Joliet / Will County area for burial arrangements. Elmhurst, the site of the burial, is in Cook County, west of Chicago, north and west of Joliet. -- LS

James C. Coonan "Jim"

Age 82. Passed away February 19, 2004 in Grapevine, TX. He was born July 10, 1921 in Joliet, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernice (Williams) and Cyril Coonan; a sister, Audrey Jane and his favorite little dog, Chipper.

Jim is survived by his caring wife Irene (Houbolt) Coonan; three children, James (Sharon) Coonan of Ransom, IL, Michael (Lisa South) Coonan of Grapevine, TX and Sharon (Patrick) Asher of Joliet; one sister, Marion Elberts of Joliet; five grandchildren, James and Mark Coonan, Amy Byers all of Ransom, IL, Jessica Luengas of El Paso, TX, Aaron Asher of Pittsburgh, PA; and seven great grandchildren.

Jim retired from Precision Wire and Cable, Garland, TX. He was employed many years by the Rainbo Bakery and JEMCO Insulated Wire Company, Joliet. Jim was a World War II Veteran, and recipient of the Purple Heart. He also was a proud member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #181, Grand Prairie, TX.

Jim enjoyed involvement in race cars, horse shows and wood crafting.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, February 25, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at the Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home with Rev. Frank Berman officiating. Interment Elmhurst Cemetery. Visitation Tuesday 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations in Jim's name to your local Human[e] Society would be appreciated.
