Robert Coon m Mae Etta Pickens Clearman in Catahoula LA c 1860.

The marriage record online states "Robert Coon" but the children always went by Coons.

Robert (might have middle name of John, or a brother named John) was born in either LA, MS, or AL. Different daughters listed different info on census records.

I do not have a birthdate for him since I cannot find him on a census record. His wife was b 1847, but that isn't always an indicator. He died either 1879 or 1880 before the census in Mills Co., TX. His family moved to Bell Co. TX at that point.

The only clues I have to go on are the 4 children who made it to adulthood were born in different states.
1864 AR
1869 LA
1873 IL
1880 TX

I have no info on the children who died in infancy.

There were Coons cousins in the Central Texas area in the 1930s but my aunt doesn't remember the names. Possible counties are Falls, Mills, Bell.

His wife went by many names but I believe her to be the daughter of Benjamin Franklin Clearman.

Any help finding the right Coon/Coons family is appreciated.
