WEST LIBERTY, Iowa
June L. Coons, 70, died suddenly Monday Nov. 20, 2000, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.

There will not be any services the body has been cremated. The Barker Funeral Home in West LIBERTY is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

She was born Feb. 17, 1930, in Montpelier Township, the daughter of Rodney and Helen Dipple Dierdorff. She married Bill Coons on Jan. 8, 1949, in Rock Island, Ill.

She was a graduate of Wilton High School in 1948.

She enjoyed gardening, flowers, cooking and her cat, Blackie. She touched so many lives. She devoted her life to raising children and taking care of others. She will be missed by all. May she rest in peace.

She was a member of the Moscow United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Bill of West Liberty; a daughter, Helen Coons of West Liberty; three sons, Steve Coons and his wife, Jane, of Eldridge; Craig Coons and his finance, Sharon Dusenberry, of Muscatine; David Coons and his wife, Debbie, of Cedar Rapids; three sisters, Phyllis Walker of Wilton; Colleen Moeller of Fredericksburg, Texas and Eloise Renfro of Davenport; three Brothers, Ivan Dierdorff of Zepherhills, Fla.; Dene Dierdorff of Moscow; Curtis Dierdorff of Fairfax, Va.; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by a son, Brian, and two brothers, Alan and Newton.

WEST LIBERTY, Iowa
Bill Lee Coons, 76, West LIBERTY, died Tuesday, May 2, 2006, at his home.
His body has been cremated. The Henderson-Barker Funeral Home, West LIBERTY, is in charge of arrangements. There will be no services. Memorials may be made to Iowa City Hospice.

He was born Dec. 18, 1929, in Missouri, the son of Michael and Etta Logsdon Coons. He married June Dierdorff on Jan. 8, 1949, in Rock Island, Ill. She preceded him in death in 2000.

He had been employed with Heinz, Muscatine, for many years until his retirement. He loved country and western music and was an avid sports fan watching the Cubs, Cardinals, Bears and Hawkeyes.

Survivors include a daughter, Helen Coons of West Liberty; three sons, Steve Coons and wife Jane of New Boston, Ill., Craig Coons and wife Sharon of Muscatine and David Coons of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Iantha Keifling and husband Robert of Loves Park, Ill.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and a son, Brian.

His family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Iowa City Hospice.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa
David E. Coons, 40, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of West LIBERTY, died Sunday, Aug. 5, 2007, at St. Lukes Hospital in Cedar Rapids, following an extended illness.

Family committal services will be in the Oak Ridge Cemetery in West LIBERTY at a later date.

The Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West LIBERTY is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Amenity Hospice.

Mr. Coons was born Oct. 15, 1966, in Iowa City, the son of Bill and June Dierdorf Coons.
He was a graduate of West LIBERTY High School.

He was employed as a press operator for the Cedar Rapids Gazette and most recently, the Iowa City Press Citizen.

He was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Bears and the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Survivors include a son, Brian Coons of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Helen Coons of Muscatine; and two brothers, Steve Coons and his wife, Jane, of New Boston and Craig Coons and his wife, Sharon, of Muscatine.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Brian.
