Dempsey is pictured in the 1917 Pedagogue, yearbook of Southwest State Normal School, now Texas State University, in San Marcos, Texas. She is a freshman. I'm not kin but thought this might help others.

While looking through the Coor board, I saw your message. Thank you for providing the dates and burial location on George and Hattie. I have George as the son of Rufus Kent and Mary J. Coor, grandson of John and Nancy Kethley Coor. My ggrandfather was Dempsey 'Babe' Peary Coor, son of James Madison Coor and Melissa Welch.

I could not find a Martha Gupton in 1870. I'm wondering if the last name might be Lupton do to the child's last name in the 1870 Census. I found several Martha Luptons, but the spouses were farmers not doctors. Also note in the 1870 Census they do not have Nancy's age and birth place correct, but no telling who was informing the Census taker.

Martha Coor married a Dr. Gupton on January 20, 1856, in Lowndes County, Mississippi. Does anyone know what happened to this couple? Did they stay in Mississippi or move on? Would like to find out about this couple, whether Martha Coor was a daughter of William Coor and Nancy Bizzell Coor.

Fleet Coor, Washington County, Texas

Seeking correspondence with descendents of Fleet Coor, who settled in Washington County, TX, between 1850 and 1880. Fleet Coor was born about 1821 or 1822. He moved to the Independence, TX, area from Lowndes County, Mississippi. He is listed in the 1880 census of Washington County. Descendents appear to be listed in the 1880, 1920 and 1930 Washington County censuses. Children appear to have included William, Fanny and Emma. Grandchildren appear to have included Fleet, Willie, Mary, Sudie and Maggie. I believe Fleet Coor, born about 1821, was a half brother to my great grandfather, Edmund Coor, of Wayne County, NC. Would like to compare notes with the Washington County Coors.

Doyle, I'm very interested in trading information with you on John Coor and family. My ggrandfather was his son James Madison Coor. Here's what I show, I have Dicie as the daughter of Daniel K. Coor, John's son. Her DOB as July 3, 1854, DOD January 16, 1877. Daniel K.'s DOB in 1817, with DOD in 1896. John's DOB in 1785, with DOD in 1838.

I am a Texas descendant. My gr gr grandmother was Ann Jemima Coor who married Dempsey Perry Welch. They are buried in the Huckabay Cemetery in Huckabay, Erath Cnty, TX. I have visited the site. I also posted information on the Copiah Cnty web site about the Coor family, the news article about Coor Spring. I have information on the maternal side of this family, beginning with William Whitfield III of North Carolina, his daughter Elizabeth who married John Kethley, and their daughter Nancy Ann who married John Coor. I have information on John's family in Copiah County.

I visited Crystal Springs a couple of years ago and looked for the monument and cemetery that are supposed to mark the site of Coor's Springs, but had no luck.

I am interested in the Texas descendants, and would be glad to exchange info.
