My grandfather was Hartzel L Cooter. Who would have been born in the 20's and was from Tennessee. He migrated to California and had six children. Possibly one of the brothers?

I also am interested in Cooter's in Tn, My grandfather Hartzle Cooter and grandmother Jenny Cooter came from Tn soetime I believe in the 1940's. I visited Tn in the early 70's with my Father William Cooter. I believe it was Morristown where my 2nd cousin Billy Ray Lee owned a dance hall called the Sportsman. Hope this may be of help.

Our family is from his second marriage, any information on his past with Lucy and her family would be a wealth of information for us. We are curious on what Lucy was like and her children as well as where her family was from. We know that she from a muscian family, but not much is know about her. Any information you can provide would be great.

Sorry I haven't gotten back to you sooner. Have been searching. What was your mother's birth date? What was her given name? Caol, Caroline, Carolyn? Middle names would also help.

I have located a Ralph Cooter born in 1927. also located a William Cooter born in 1914 both were born in Greene Co. Tenn.

It was my mother. Her name is Carol Cooter. My grandfathers brothers were named Billy, Otis, Ralph, and Jack. I do not know any of their kids names. I would appreciate any help.

I am looking for some info on my grandfather Roscoe C Cooter born on November 16, 1922 in Tennessee. The problem I am having is that I can't find any ifno on his father, also named Roscoe Cooter. The story I always got as a little kid is that my great grandfather and his 3 brothers were German immigrants and were bakers. I have recently recieved info via ancestry.com that states that my great grandfather was born in Tennessee. Could someone help me out or point me in the right direction. Thanks

I show a Charles Emmett Cooter born in 1882 in Douglas County, NE. Parents: Geo. Kruter Cooter born 1864 and Mother Lucy Elizabeth Palmeter. I do have a geneology book on the Cooter's. Will locate it and see if I can find Charles in it. Our Cooter's are from Indiana. Of course originally from Germany. Hope this helps. LOST AN EYE AND EAR

Miami: Dr. A. M. Cooter, of this place, was shot and dangerously wounded, while out hunting with three others. Carl W. Travy of Topeka, fired at a bunch of quails and Dr. Cooter stepped in front of the gun and received the entire charge in the face. The lower part of his left ear is shot off and the sight of the left eye gone. The right eye may possibly be saved.

Nathaniel Cooter was the s/o John Cooter and Mary "Polly" Houston. Nathaniel was born in 1848 in Bean Blossom Twp., Monroe Co., Ind. He was a farmer in Washinton Twp., Monroe Co. and often spelled his surname COUTER. He married in Monroe Co. Jan 6, 1871 Martha L. Hughes, who was born 1851 in Tennessee. Nathaniel died in 1926 and Matha died in 1943. Both are buried in the Mt. Pleasant Church cemetery in Washington Twp. Six children were born to this couple and all were born in Washington Twp.

Obituary for MARTHA CATHARINE COOTER MCCLAIN
MARTHA CATHARINE COOTER was born May 25, 1849 at Williamsburg, Missouri. Closing a long and useful life, after an acute illness of only two days, death claimed her October 31, 1920, while visiting at the home of her daughter, MRS. F. E. REYNOLDS.

The deceased grew to womanhood at the place of her birth; and at the age of seventeen, was converted and joined the Methodist Episcopal Church of which she remained a member to the end. Only July 14, 1867, she was united in matrimony to A. J. MCCLAIN of Williamsburg, Missouri. To this union, eleven children were born. Five of whom, in early infancy or childhood, preceded their mother to a home where sorrow and disappointment are unknown. Of her immediate family, she is survived by her aged husband, six children: MRS. A. U. FORD, MRS. F. E. REYNOLDS, B. S. MCCLAIN and M. A. MCCLAIN, all of Wynnewood, MRS. ARTHUR CARROL of Lawton, and A. M. MCCLAIN of Kahoka, Missouri; one sister, MRS. NANNIE GOSNEY and one brother, SAM COOTER, both of Lewis County, Missouri. There are also fifteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

In 1905, she and husband with all their children except the oldest son moved to Wynnewood, later moving to the farm west of town.

During her last years, Mrs. McClain was almost an invalid, but prayed for strength to care for here own body to the end of life and thus not be a burden to others. She was a loyal patient wife, and a loving faithful mother. Her home was here castle, and there she lived and labored to the end that her influence was felt in the community as a kindly sympathetic friend and obliging neighbor.

I have a James T. and Joseph A. Cooter.. sons of Bernard Cooter and Elizabeth Jones. Bernard is the son of Philip "Kuder" who is buried in Green County, TN. There were also other sons of Bernard.. John, Philip, Charles, and Jones. Philip Kuder is one of the sons of Bernhardt Kuder who was born in Southern Germany in 1730.
I don't know if this is the same family you're looking for. (The name Kuter (Kuder) was anglicized to Cooter about the time of the move to Virginia sometime after 1782.) It might be easier if you look for info on Bernhardt Kuder (Kuter)if this is the family you're looking for. If it is, I don't mind sending you more info.

Family is from present: Peyton, Steven, Curtis, Robert, Marion, John, Lawrence, Bernhardt, Hans Adam, Han Jakob, Phillipp Kuder. That is a ways back!!

I am looking for any information on my gfathers family the Cooter's. His wife did a genealogy several years ago but there is a big gap missing. My grandfather was Myron Jack Cooter, who I know at one time lived in upstate New York. I know very little about my gfather. His lineage can be traced back to the ancestor who fought and died as a result of the battle at Brandywine. If anyone has any information to share, I would greatly appreciate it.

My name is Tamra Cooter Doke. My father was William "Billy" Lee Cooter born August 1, 1933 North Carolina. His father was Charles Douglas Cooter born April 9, 1890 in Greene County, Greeneville Tennessee. He married Lillie Mae Spurlin in 1912. On the 1910 Census, Greene County Tennessee, Dist 9 references a Charles Cooter, age 62 (1848) with a son Charles Cooter, age 20 (1890). This could be my great grandfather. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
